If you hate freedom so much then why don't you move to France?

Let's see, the mother is dead, the father is (as far as Obi Wan knew at the time) presumed dead, well, the children have to go to family members don't they? Being powerful Jedi presumably, what is actually right for the children? They should go and live with family members.
They had to be separated as well.

I guess I would have done what Organa, Kenobi and Yoda did. I don't really find that all so bad.

TGD wrote:(1) I seem to remember the reason behind Yoda's location (near the evil cave) although I can't remember if that was in the movies, companion novels, or later novels; that makes sense to me except that Kenobi didn't have to do the same thing. Is it because Kenobi wasn't as powerful?

I don't know. I guess Kenobi wanted to be near to Luke and Yoda wanted to go to Dagobah.

TGD wrote:(2) When Thrawn becomes a threat, isn't Luke setting up his Jedi academy on Yavin 4? I can't remember why he set it up there and not Dagobah (I thought Tatooine would have been a good spot as well). Anyway, it seems the evil cave would be a good teaching spot for young Jedi.

I don't know, I guess Yavin was as good a place as any. Oh, and it was during the Thrawn campaign when Luke Skywalker had his last vision of Kenobi, who told him to set up a new Jedi academy. The praxeum on Yavin was just a school, the Jedi headquarters and the Jedi temple were still on Coruscant (though they had to be rebuilt I guess).

TGD wrote:(3) I read this in one of AD's links so I can't take credit, but why would you put Luke with his family (Skywalkers) on the planet where his father is from (Tatooine) and let him retain his last name (Skywalker) if you're trying to hide him from the Emperor and Vader and the Empire itself. I cannot recall, but wasn't there an imperial presence on Tatooine prior to the droids landing on the planet in Episode IV?

Well, I suppose if we remember, Vader didn't know that Padme had actually given birth, at least not right away. He was told (by the Emperor) that he had killed Padme. I guess Vader assumed that the child died with her (as I don't think Vader was ever aware that Padme was with twins).
So I guess Vader never really gave a crap about looking into his step family once he had an Empire to help the Emperor run.

The Emperor may well be psychic but he's also a Sith and by extension, arrogant beyond belief. I suppose that arrogance led to some pretty piss poor threat assessments, to say the least. I guess he really just didn't give a shit because he figured no one was of any real threat to him. He probably enjoyed a nice life of hedonism and left the details to underlings.
Vader probably was busy just brow beating uppity Imperial officers who had disdain to those who practice the use and religion of The Force.

In other words, they probably just had plenty of other things to do instead of searching out lost children who they didn't know existed and even if they did know probably didn't think them much of a threat being as they are arrogant beings.

But as been mentioned and is quite understandable, there are plenty of plot holes.

I think I found it more riskier than anything else (given the potential power of the Empire at the time). The other thing I just thought about was that there was no guarantee that the children would be strong in the force, so maybe that factored in somehow.

Great point.

Yeah, but it's fun to talk about them. I have another one...

It's been a while since I've watched Space Balls.

Remember- this was a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. Where they didn't have the money for ultrasound systems available to detect twins for unmarried women, and instead spent all their cash on Star Wars military defense contracts.
the world is in greater peril from those who tolerate or encourage evil than from those who actually commit it- Albert Einstein
