France Stiffening Penalties on Prostitution

The French parliament early on Saturday backed a reform of the country's prostitution law that will impose a 1,500-euro fine on anyone paying for sex.

The bill will give France some of the toughest legislation on prostitution in Europe, similar to that of Sweden.

Agree with BBS ... if you tax prostitution the tax should be equal to the standard sales tax rate, otherwise it's not a tax but a penalty. That said, maybe you could tax each transaction separately. For instance, a HJ, BJ, and RJ each get charged as separate items instead of bundled together, even if they're part of the same coital event? Alternatively, maybe you're taxed by every inch of penetration? We have the technology that we could outfit each hooker's vagina with a meter that would print-out a payment voucher.

For info, there are tons of western countries with much bigger tax rates. Last time i heard, denmark was the heavyweight champion. Otherwise I don t consider USA as a developped country given the % of inhabitants living in poverty and with no medical care rights. Or the incarceration rates, and death by firearm rates compared to any civilized country.

Regarding different tax rates for sexual practices, i think there would be too much fraud. And some IRS guys would have a strange job verifying if the tax rates are applied correctly.

I would still tax the shit out of it so a prostitute would give 4 month a year of blowjobs for the state. That s not a lot compared to cigarettes, booze and gas taxes!
