I call shenanigans. The only reason Laura Ingalls won is because her picture is with Benji.

What dictatorship? He was voted in by we Canadians three times in a row and we'll have total freedom to vote on his leadship again in a year. Please visit Syria and when you return we can speak again about dictatorship if you would like.

See that's the problem with Canadian politics. I never voted for "Stephen Harper" on my ballot. If we are indeed voting for a person, or a party, the ballot should list that party leader or the party name, not some stooge who is allegedly representing my riding.

Anyone who says "he was voted in" should support a system in which he actually gets voted in. And yet we don't have one. That is why Canada deserves no medals. We fail at the simplest things. The Election Commission is more concerned about making sure people with anxiety can vote without an anxiety attack than they are about ensuring that what we do on paper corresponds in any way to how we talk about, perceive and suffer from elections.

39.62% of Canadians voted conservative.

Concerning his "dictatorship" I was referring to his actions and policies. He is muzzling people in his own party. He is attacking science and not allowing federally employed scientists to speak freely. He is destroying decades of research. He is now modifying Elections Canada as well as the Election Act and it appears he is removing power from Elections Canada as well as skewing the changes to favour the Conservative Party. He is attacking individuals that disagree with him and/or his policy and conducting smear campaigns. His environmental policy is taking us backwards 50 years. His party workers conducted illegal activities during the last election campaign.

Perhaps he isn't a dictator yet but he is certainly leading us down that road. When you dismantle checks and balances you undermine the system. I for one am not a happy Canadian, nor am I as proud to be Canadian as I was.

I stand by my statement.

All this while representing a minority of Canadians.

I hate our political system. The fact that someone can get a majority government with less than 50% of the votes (significantly less!) is ridiculous.

I also am proud to have never voted for him (or the Conservative Party, for that matter) because of his dismantling of our political system. Say what you will about (the late) Jack Layton, at least he recognized the faults in how we were running politics and went out of his way to fix it.

The Harper government (or somebody on his behalf) spent [presumably tax-payer] money to mail me a pamphlet slandering the Liberal party for trying to raise taxes earlier this month. I'm trying to find a picture of it online to post here.
