And what about Klitschko, any comment to the evidence I offered that he is indeed calling for mobilization in Ukraine? Or do you still have some sort of problem with my simple reporting of his actual freaking words?

What comment do you want me to give? I never disagreed with what you said about that.

What you said specifically was:
The Russian speaking people don't want anything to do with this new government that took power via coup.

I said that is false because Klitschko IS a russian speaking person. Does he or does he not want anything to do with this new government?

I have a sneaking suspicion that he does, and that makes your statement false.

As BBS points out when he is looking for an easy straw man "people" is a misleading term.

As evidenced by...

I'm sorry that when I see some insignificant Yankee politician I don't click the link. It's the same reason I don't click Kim Kardashian links.

I've just done a double-check through rss. Ekspres, Fakti and Komsomolskaya Pravda (the 3 trad media .rss feeds) all have no reference to McCain since 2010/11. Kyiv Post on their website has links to American coverage of the story but only original content makes it onto their rss feed.

Well, it is appearing more and more like Klitschko bet on the wrong horse to win.

doomyoshi wrote:I'm sorry that when I see some insignificant Yankee politician

I wish he was, he is to a degree, but when he goes to the Ukraine and supports coups that lead to people dying and a nation ripped in half, it might pay to have at least some knowledge of the insignificant politician is doing in our name. (Not yours, your Canadian apparently, so I can understand if you don't keep up with American politicians, I don't know crap nor do I care about Canadian politicians*)

But I guess the point is, and that you are not aware, is our politicians both Dems and Reps have been egging on the protesters and by extension a coup of a national government and that this coup has now led to seemingly increasing chances of ever greater violence. And all I ask is "Is it worth it?"
You should see the propaganda going on in the US as to why we should support the coup democratic movement in Ukraine and be angry as hell at Russia.
And it's all different degrees of bullshit.
But I guess you understand now why I was mentioning McCain. He did this back in 2008 in Georgia as well and we know how that turned out, don't we!

*And BTW, I'm a fan of Canada, actually. They are about as good a friend as nations can have.

True. I have my own reasons to hate Russia and they aren't great reasons. I just want so see Putin dragged through the streets of the world naked, like a sadistic Olympic torch relay.

As I said though:
The Russian economy has too much to lose from Ukraine to back down.

Civilized people will lose interest before Russia - no matter how many resources we have to begin with.

It's already old news. Except since the Russians declared war, this is going to be evidenced as "the first geopolitical war of the 21st century". Which is what they were calling it before Klitschko even got to the Maidan.

Don't know. But a meeting has been called for Monday.

The Federation Council is demanding President Putin recall the Russian ambassador to the United States due to the Obama regime's incessant warmongering and threats against Russian peacekeeping forces that have been legally deployed in the Ukraine.

Russia's upper house of parliament will appeal to President Vladimir Putin to recall the Russian ambassador to Washington, the chamber's speaker said Saturday.

Since Ukraine's Flag ship switch side... I hope Russia will send the army into Ukraine really fast to prevent unnecessary civilian bloodshed.

I got it from a little birdie that China has indicated that it will lean toward Russia's position in this Ukraine debacle come UN security meeting time. If China, along with Russia, squash UN resolve I wonder how it will be spun in the US press?

We'll see soon enough I guess.

And the Ukraine flagship, that's funny right there. A Ukrainian naval vessel and it just happens to be sailing with a Russian flag tucked away in a locker somewhere. I guess that's not so surprising, nor is their motive of wanting to live and not fight the Russian navy.

The interim president of Ukraine just ordered that all Ukrainian military units be put on full alert and to fire upon any Russian or other units that fire upon them. I'm wondering when we'll find out how many of these Ukrainian units ignore the new government in Kiev. There are more mutinies in the cards for Ukrainian forces.

i think that real war not going to happend.
US invade Iraq with false reasons (WMD),overthrow regime and Russia oppose this, but not react military.
US bombard Serbia and take province of Kosovo and Metohia from Serbia, create pupet state,,Russia oppose this, but not react military.
US bombard Libya, help active in overthrow of regime, create unstable contry,, and Russia again oppose this ,but not react military.

From other side Russia provide support to Osetia and Abhazia in war against Georgia,,,US oppose this but not react military.

So i think that US will oppose Russian Intervention in crimea,,but will not react military.

same like regular people suffer in Iraq-Serbia-Libya,, but US only care for hes own interest.

Just to compare>> In Iraq-Serbia and Libya lived almost zero Americans
In Ukraine live 7 million Russians .

Also American Secretary Kerry say
"You just don't in the 21st Century behave in 19th Century fashion by invading another country on completely trumped-up pretext,"
Sound familiar with US reason for Iraq invasion?

Its so funny how every US invasion and intervention are legitimate, but any other country who try something similar are threat for entire planet?

You invade as much as you can get away with. Putin played his hand very well in Georgia in 2008. It is interesting to see what he does with Ukraine, it is History in making, just sad and worried for the people who has to live through it...

IMHO, he can easily get away with an occupation of Crimea, both strategically and politically; but it is much harder to do anything in the rest of the Ukraine.

Personally, I like Kerry and he does what he has to do in this situation. But I despise our Bill Hague: we have nothing up the sleeve to surprise Russia with but this posh twat is so obviously trying "to punch above his weight".

Putin is patient man... Liberation of Crimea is step one(IDK how you concluded that its occupation), next steps will follow depending on the needs.

Dream on, Kerry was outmaneuvered with Syria, why do you think that Russians are not able to repeat the same again ;)

In Kiev ...

The mood in Kiev was radically different as about 50,000 people massed on Independence Square -- the crucible of both the latest wave of demonstrations and the 2004 Orange Revolution that first nudged Kiev on a westward path -- in protest at Putin's latest threat.

"We will not surrender," the huge crowd chanted under grey skies.

Meanwhile, at Ukraine Navy HQ ...

Ukraine launched a treason case on Sunday against the head of the navy, who surrendered his headquarters on Sunday — on only his second day on the job. "During the blockade by Russian forces of the central headquarters of the navy, he declined to offer resistance and laid down his weapons," said Viktoria Syumar, deputy secretary of Ukraine's Security Council.

Another admiral, Serhiy Hayduk, was placed in charge of the navy.

Oh, thank goodness. He'll lead a few pontoon boats and party barges to Sevastopol.
