The Bibles describes there will be signs in the heavens and sun and stars just before the tribulation. No generation prior to current has ever witnessed an asteroid collide into Jupiter, or seen the surface of the sun, or walked on the moon, or seen and tested the CO2 polar caps on Mars, nor seen the surface of a comet, nor seen ice volcanoes erupting from Saturn's moons, nor seen a coronal mass ejection, nor known the length of a day for Mercury, nor seen a spiral galaxy, nor seen trillions of galaxies, nor walked in space, etc. until this generation. And this was only possible with a fulfillment of another prophecy that said the Day of the Lord will be when knowledge is increased. We could not travel into space nor adequately see space until knowledge increased.
No generation prior to current has seen the signs/wonders of the heavens. A requirement fulfilled that no prior generation could understand.

One generation is about 25 years, depending on the era and culture. Many of your "signs" happened somewhere between 2 and 95 generations ago (The Chinese recorded sunspots in 364 BCE).
Yes, knowledge is increasing. Religion and God were invented by people who had little knowledge about how the world worked. They wanted an explanation for why things happened, and they wanted a way to live in an orderly society in a time when getting away with crime was probably fairly easy.
Why does it rain?
God's crying - probably because of something you did.
Why shouldn't I steal, or kill, or screw my neighbor's wife?
Because God is watching, and even if you don't get caught, he'll punish you later.
Science and law enforcement have eliminated the most of the need for God. But some people can't handle the idea that "Nobody knows" is sometimes the answer, or that some questions will never have an answer. So they latch on to religion because it claims to have all the answers, or if it doesn't, then it offers the soothing reassurance that God knows, and it's all part of his plan, and it's all for the best - "there, don't you feel better now?" Some of those answers may be helpful, or make you feel better, but the entire foundation is just a very old fairy tale. And a big business has built up around it that desperately wants to keep it going, and keep the money flowing. Religion fears knowledge - it has from the beginning, because knowledge helps us see through religion's lies, and exposes it for what it really is.
