I used quantcast.com to look at the demographics of NHL.com, and it reinforced some of stereotype you have of people who watch hockey, and in one way also sports in general. This was within the US.

Male 84%
Female 16%

Caucasian 92%

https://www.quantcast.com/nhl.com?country=US

So surprise surprise, people who watch hockey are almost exclusively *drumroll*......caucasian men. Nothing new of course but I found the extent to which this is true quite astonishing. I searched a lot of different sites using quantcast and I found no one where there were a larger % of men, or a larger percentage of caucasians.

Another stereotype that holds true is that black people dislike hockey. Just 2% of the demographic was black against an expected 9%, just 17% of what you would expect if there was no correlation between race and interest in hockey. The national average for caucasians would be 76%, but it was 92% indicating a strong positive correlation between interest in hockey and being caucasian.

On another note, astrology.com has an 80% female demographic, lol. That's just 1% less than babycenter.com.

Okay I just found another site with a higher ratio of white people, Glennbeck.com, 94% caucasian, turns out about 2% of the demographic is black, the exact same figure that NHL.com had. So NHL.com attracts black people as little as Glenn Beck then. Hm, how did they get such a bad rep? lol

If you're looking for men go to Golf.com, they have a ridicoulus 93% male demographic, and a 91% caucasian. They're also abnormally rich and old, if you're a female golddigger, that's where you should be headed. Always happy to help some golddiggers out :).

Exceptional game last night. I kind of feel bad for the Rags...this will be their 5th game in 7 days. That's really ridiculous for the playoffs.

Oh well. Time to step on their throats.

Yeah, the Rangers are getting shafted by the schedule.

Which means they win tonight by 3 goals. Go figure.

Bollocks.

One of them gonna get traded this summer, if not both. Lost a lot of money at 3-0 against some friends ...

Chicago vs Boston for a Stanley cup rematch ?

It was funny last year to have the 4 most recent Cup winners in the conference finals, but I'm not sure it will be quite as funny if it happens again.

The near-constant chant of "Shoot the puck!" at MSG last night was amusing - the occasional shout of "Rip [Crosby's] head off!" somewhat less so.
You stay classy, New York.

We have tickets to Game 6, but at this rate, there may not be one.

IN OTHER NEWS: I'm moving to Brooklyn soon. May actually go to an Oylander game if the tickets are cheap enough.

I sure as hell hope not. I wanted to see Anaheim in the finals from the west but it's looking more and more far fetched, anyone from the east except Boston is acceptable to me, though I'm rooting for Montreal. I really really don't want to see Boston-Chicago in the finals because then I have no one cheer for, because I strongly dislike both those teams. Kings or Ducks, whoever gets through that semifinal is the team I will root for in the west and Montreal, as long as they're still in it is my favorite, if they go out I'll be rooting for either Pens or Rangers. Anything but that final you just suggested. Cup spoiled Hawks or Annoying and arrogant Bruins, I don't wnat either to win it and unless both of them makes it to the finals there's always the chance that neither of them wins.

Great start to this round so far. We're up 3-1 on the Rags and MTL has the series lead over the Bs.

I feel like we could handle MTL in 6 as long as Price doesn't go into god mode.

I don't think I have ever been as embarrassed as I was last night - sitting at the Garden, watching the Pens forget how to play defense and turn into the Flyers - dirty, undisciplined, awful.
Will probably root for the Rangers tomorrow night - after a performance like that, Pittsburgh doesn't deserve shit.

I had assumed they would wait at least until the next round to blow it, but it seems they're intent on proving me wrong.

That said, at least they're not the Sharks...

My guess is AoG just shit himself in protest like the two year old he is.
Pens didn't deserve to go through and so they didn't, the team they have would never have made it to the finals anyway, if you can't close a 3-1 series lead with two home games to go that says a lot about the team.

Watching the look on the little freak Marchand's face when they lost was priceless. So fucking well deserved win. Rangers-Canadiens it is then, it'll be the first time in two decades that one of these teams makes it to the finals, I'll be rooting for the victor in this series to win it all.

The Rangers are going to Martin St. Louis' mom's funeral as a team on Sunday.
Real class act, those guys.
Would be kind of cool if (at least some of) the Habs went, too.

Thank god the Bruins lost. I would've been even more pissed if they had one because they would've steamrolled the Rags.

Also, some-fucking-how Bylsma is retained yet we get rid of Shero. I understand that they're probably gonna wait to fire Bylsma until the new GM talks to/interviews him, but christ if we keep Bylsma for next season words won't describe how angry I'll be.
