"No-Go zones"

Postby betiko on Mon Jan 19, 2015 2:58 pm

So right after the attacks, phatscotty was asking about "no go zones" in paris.
I was really wondering what it was about.... Then last friday on a french show I watch that is like the "tonight show" basically... same kind of humour...
And they showed the footage of some stuff said on fox news after the attacks:

This is 100% invented. Just like if any of you take a map, invent a story, invent some places that are described as dangerous when they are totally peacefull neighborhoods.. add some 10 year old footage that has absolutely nothing to do with your story, then add some totally made up figures (16% of french people are in favour of isis!!!! seriously??????). Anyway, truely shocking to hear all that... same thing about Birmingham.
I've never seen any something like this before.

Anyway, lots of french people have started trolling fox news sending their journalists over 40 000 emails.
Then the french program I was talking about ("le petit journal") has been trolling fox news journalists in Paris in a press conference in the american embassy to ask them what they thought of it... They were all deeply embarassed and in "no comment" mode.
The funny thing is that some guys from the american embassy went to talk to "le petit journal" asking them how many emails fox news received, and then they start laughing when they hear 40 000... so they just said how brilliant they thought it was, clearly showing how much they despise fox news.

So after that, fox news made some public apologies about their "no go zones" shit in 4 news bulletins straight.

Then CNN and MSNBC took over the story, and have been showing that fox news story... Litterally taking a piss at them. "wait,so you mean that the whole story was based on no facts and was entirely made up? so the entire europe is laughing at them?"

really..... that was some funny shit. How can you have so little journalistic deonthology?

Some politician, I think it was Bobby Jindal governor of Louisiana, talked about No-Go zones recently but couldn't name any specifically I think.

I thought it was something new the Bush clan thought up to disrupt world peace. Sort-of like "No-Fly Zones" but without the planes.

The guy I heard talking about no-go zones, pretty sure I heard him say it twice in 2 different places, and he also twice said he has the video tape, as well a twice saying 'I have to find that tape'. Supposedly the tape, according to this guy, shows a French police officer refusing to go into a certain neighborhood/neighborhoods.

I guess he should probably find that tape. I would bet a small amount he doesn't find it.

well this could be true in certain projects where they deal drugs in certain suburbs around Paris. You wouldn't go there with just one patrol car; the watchers would through you stones, washing mashines, tvs and all kind of crap from the roofs. Firefighters can't go there without the police and all kind of shit. But this is the same everywhere in the world; there's some crappy ghetto suburbs everywhere. But of course, the police goes there with the correct amount of officers to make some arrests once in a while. Nothing to do with islamists... just drug trafficking. But there is no such thing in Paris itself.

just found this video:

actually I ate oneyesterday and only the second time i go to BK since they're back in france.
I was going to ask... how much is a standard whopper menu for you guys, no oversize.. no extra bacon or cheese... it's 7,60€ here, which is like 9USD. It seems quite expensive compared to what it used to be..

Burger King here is actually less expensive than McDonalds. The veggies are better still.

They have a special on chicken nuggets, 10 for just over $2 with tax. I will have to check on the whopper. I think it is under $5.

The Big Mac is just over. $5 I tried a texas third pounder jalapeƱo thing it was around $9. McDonalds here is not nearly as good as the couple I have been to in France.

The Paris city council is a strutting peacock. They can't sue Fox. Libel laws in the U.S. aren't like in Europe. How do you think the Globe can print all these headlines? The Paris council will huff and puff for a few weeks to whip-up Parisians into a flag-waving fervor, and then quietly back into the shadows.

cause I guess they can't do the same with obama!
never heard of that globe shit. seems even worse than the Sun.

The city council can sue for jack shit I don't care. I think it's just funny. I don't really care that fox news said that, I would if it was the tv channel I watch to hear about the news. I don't think people really took offense here, we're just amazed and amused by such high standards of bullshitting an audience.

Seems like CNN, MSNBC and the American embassy in france feel the same.

Yup, FOX News just put itself right up at the top of the mountain alongside governments who tell their citizens that free speech is a cornerstone of their society before prosecuting dozens of those citizens for things they've said.

I know you re brit, and as a frenchman I can tell you I was shocked by stuff I saw in London that is ok for English people.
I saw once about a hundred of these bearded guys holding some pretty nasty hate signs along with those black djihaddist flags shouting in loud speakers like mad men. If I remember corectly they were bitching about democracy among other things, which was quite ironic (and you will probably say that what I just wrote is ironic, I know). We wouldn t be as tolerant here, I guess the police would move them away for public disorder.

More ironically, the guys shouting in loudspeakers turned out to be less of a public order issue than the guys cartooning on paper.

Got any proof for that? Because here in Belgium we had an organization called "Sharia for Belgium" who also just 'expressed opinion', but in the end ended up recruiting hundreds of youngsters to send Syria as djihadists.

Anyone who merely expresses support for ISIS should go to jail. We don't need scum like that...

just found this video:

I don't see what the big deal is either way. I made a lengthy post in the other thread about how they are common where I live too. Basically, it comes down to race. It's not always true, but in my experience, if you are the only white person on a streets full of any other race, your gonna get shit. If you are a black person in a neighborhood where no blacks live, the police will be called on them, again, this is in my experience. And even though we have FAR less Arab immigrant Muslims %-wise than France does, we have had Christians stoned by Muslims in Dearborn Michigan

Anyways.... I think what the guy was trying to say was that the French cop could not go there because a large group of fundamentalists Muslims in that neighborhood were trying to impose their own version of sharia law

I'm a "northerner" (meaning I'm not from the south) and I've driven in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia in the sticks. That is definitely a "no-go" zone for me. I would also include West Philadelphia and Camden on that list.

By the way, does that me racist?
