What my wife posted is both true and not. I have been to four universities, two while in prison where I got an associate's in science. My engineering degree was a three part program. Part took place at Acadia and then the Dal. To finish my degree, I need to complete my co-op.

I was dismissed from the co-op position due to lack of work. My wife blames me for this. A couple weeks after being let go, I still hadn't found a replacement and my wife started freaking out on me. She blames CC, she blames smoking cigarettes, she blames my ideas, she blames anything under the stars.

About four weeks ago, we finally reached a tipping point. I was watching citizenfour and she flipped out. She cut halfway through the internet cord and I said f*ck it and left.

She spies on me, has access to all my passwords and a very aggressive temperament. We seem to be headed for a custody battle. My son only has Chinese citizenship and I don't know how this is going to work out.

I need to let a lot of the ideas I have go, but I can't talk about the subjects in these threads and ignore things. It's better for me to just leave.

I would like to apologize for being an asshole. My wife and I have been struggling for a while and I'm quite alienated in the middle of nowhere. This has been my only outlet. I'm sorry if I have taken things out on others because I'm too weak to do what I've needed to do.

I'm in a tough position. I want to protect my son, but any suggestion of taking action is met with aggressive threats.

I won't be posting any more.

I'm sorry to hear that. Now it would be a lie if I said I understood your situation, but you got my best wishes anyway.
Hope things work out for ya.

If you were born in Canada you can pass your citizenship to your son don't you?

I was born in the US and left to live in Canada with my mother's uncle and aunt when I was ten. My mother died when I was 13, and they began the adoption process. We were already living in Hong Kong before the process was completed.

At the time the law was, that an adopted child living overseas could not be granted Canadian citizenship. The law changed in 2006 and I applied for citizenship from China. The new law prohibited my children from having Canadian citizenship if born outside of Canada.

I went to the US embassy to inform them that a new American was coming into the world and they informed me that I needed to prove I had lived in the US for two years after the age of 12 I think. Anyways, I hadn't, I had only been back for summers.

Surprise, I couldn't pass on my US citizenship or my Canadian. I actually had to attend the one-child training and sign an agreement not to have another child and sign a promise that I had not had any children prior in China.

My son doesn't even have my last name.

On Friday, I promised to go to her place at 9:45 the next morning and help her add windshield wiper fluid. I woke up, took my turns, took a shower and saw I had three missed calls and a text. I arrived at about 9:50. She was furious.

Anyways, you don't need all the boring details. I was apologetic, she wanted none of it. So I left.

She has no give. Never has. Most of our assets are in China in her name, she'd get custody and if not, no one could stop her from sending our boy back to China. She won't go to marriage counselling. And she clearly doesn't want me any more. And with her freaking out over every little thing, inside and outside my control, I can't go back if she did.

The only thing I can do is try to keep her calm from afar and hope I get to see my boy sometimes. She lets me skype him. If I lose that, I'm lost.

Sorry for laying this on you guys. I've manned up and decided to finish my last few games.

What? No, they're not.

Some people are very good athletes, some are very good scholars, some are very good musicians, some are very good with love, some are very good at building things with their hands, and still others are absolutely terrible at everything. People aren't equal, and never will be. Even if we created a perfect society where every person was supposed to be treated the same, and everybody was considered equal, people still wouldn't be equal.

Does the person who never gets laid look at the guy that gets laid all the time and think that they are equal? Does the janitor look at the super popular musician and think that they're equal? Does the dimwit look at a university professor and think that they're equal? Would these people be treated equally by others? Nope.

Sorry, but the idea that all people are equal is a communist/socialist/utopian/etc. (take your pick) pipe dream that has no basis whatsoever in reality.

FWIW a utopic/post-scarcity society does not assume individual equality.

In some ways the differences between people are enormous; in other ways they are the same. When you start to look at it you find the greatest differences in the most outermost and superficial layers, and the greatest similarities close to the core.

In our outermost layers we may achieve spectacular success or catastrophic failure, but at our core we all just want good food, a warm place to hide in the winter, and a decent blowjob. The closer we look at the lives of the rich and famous, the more we realize that at their core they are consumed by the same mundane problems as we are. They struggle to avoid obesity, to break drug addictions, to combat their own internal demons. Their wives leave them and they are consumed by the fear that their children don't respect them. They drink themselves to death, or shoot themselves, and we incredulously ask, "how could someone who had it all just throw it away like that?"

The Nobel-prize-winning professor may do more interesting work than the dimwit janitor, but when they go home at night and lay awake in the dark, both of them are wondering if their wife cheated on them while they were away at work that day, and they look at their peckers and fear that they may not measure up to the guy next door.

Freddy Mercury was the greatest singer of all time. My attempts at song generally result in people leaving the room. And yet, I am a alive and he is dead. The decay of our bodies makes all of us brothers. Our brilliant minds may put a lovely shine on the outside, but at our core we are all just apples desperately trying to rot more slowly.

I have no rebuttal for that. Well said.

But when somebody makes a blanket statement such as "all humans are equal," I feel the need to point out how that's not correct. Even if we are all very similar, we still aren't all equal.
