Looks like they just love to imagine the apocalyspe and get ready for it. Apparently countless midwest kind of guys create their several years supply of food + shelter + basic material...
It's cool to be prepaired in life and shit... But seriously, are these guys nuts? too much bible reading and zombie movie watching is no good for your mental health.
I get that there are a lot of natural hazards though (tornados, earthquakes...). But it doesn't look like survivalists get ready for that.

It reminds me of the duck and cover map with the little turtle who used to teach people how to hide in shelters in case of russian nuclear strike in the 50s.
I guess the world is a safer place on our side of the pond.

Don't be such a negativist. Global warming would be over

And yes, 3 million people, that s a number large enough to mention that batshit crazy trend.
So what is your plan, kill your prep neighbours to steal their food with your 1000 of ammo when the zombie apocalypse arrives?

The west is fine. The arab spring has shown it's the large net importers of food that have to worry(middle east, east-asia). Western countries have enough food production to feed the basic needs of their own people.

Over half of the french soil is used for agricultural purposes, and we're the biggest country in size within western europe.
We produce 12% more electricity than we use and export the rest when not needed.
I really don't know anyone in europe who tries to get prepared "just in case", even from my grand parent's generation who had to suffer the war and starvation.
