The title is 'Is the US president an elected monarch?'.

(#1) You didn't post the title. (#2) The BBC website is blocked in Santa Barbara.

So that's on you.

That's a horrifying realization.

Um, hardly. This was a decision by Sheriff Bill Brown a couple years ago after the BBC wrote a biased and vitriolic review of the Santa Barbara Summer Orchid show. It was a decision supported by the community and has nothing to do with having access to so-called "neutral news sources." [sic]

I have posted about Bill Brown before on Conquer Club, so it's known I am not necessarily a fan, but even I backed the decision.

Wasn't that the one where second place went to the old Arizonan lady who grew a 10-foot wide swastika out of petunias?

I didn't read that to be the main point.

It was fairly obvious to anyone who didn't approach the article with an anti-British axe to grind.

You've been known to criticize the despotic powers of the POTUS yourself, but just allow one little Brit to sneak in to the situation, and right away you're seeing the rocket's red glare.

That is completely incorrect. A "Traditional British Monarch" was rejected at the Constitutional Convention. (NO, really, look it up, the guy who pushed for it basically lost all his political credibility from that point onward.)

George Washington was never a "traditional British monarch" because clearly he quit after 8 years and he never had his son take over immediately upon his resignation. Now whether he was "better" or "worse" than King George is a matter of personal opinion. King George was reluctantly yielding to the tax demands of the colonists, while on the other hand, Washington personally led the armies when locals complained about the taxes from the Federal government.

Both George Washington and King George would have looked with horror with today's progressive bureaucracy and chief executive.

Yes, including in this very thread. I was careful to note that, while I agreed with the solution, the formula was incorrect. My 5th grade math teacher required us to show our work and we would not get credit if we knew the answer but not how to get it. The same thing applies here.

And I most certainly do not have an anti British bias, my bias is more generally anti Anglo-Saxon.
