I like Civ-series. I still play civ V occasionally a few times a year.
As for CTR, it's a great game to play with friends. Not to mention, I played that when I was like 9 years old.

I love the Civ series too but Civ III is clearly the worst of them

Civ II > Civ IV > Civ I > Civ V > Civ III

Also, Crash Bash > Crash Team Racing

You're right they could do both. But American kids chose to be LAZY FAT ASSES. With no imagination. No will to do anything. When I was a kid. You had to drag us in the house. Today you have to drag the fat asses outside. To get them moving around. So yes, outside is better. The only time during the summer. You should be inside. Is a rainy day. RISK TIME BABY!!!!.. :D .ConfederateSS.out!(The Blue and Silver Rebellion).. ---Kick the Can. Is a game of tag. One person guards a can in front of Home Base. The rest of the players try to Kick the Can and make it home..before being tagged by the guard... In case you had a question about the game..Mrsw.

Apparently I used to play the game 'kick the can' too, except here we call it 'pottekestamp' and we use a football.

I used to play outside most of the time too: catching/killing grasshoppers, building camps with planks and nails, playing war, playing football, shooting with the BB-guns, playing foot-tennis, bike-ramming, bike-racing, etc.
Yet I still don't think outdoors playing is so much better. You mention people who game indoors have no imagination? Obviously you've missed out on a lot of games that actually do require imagination. And it's not because kids play outside that they will turn out sporty. Many kids who play outdoors also turn out fat.

Yeah I only realized that afterwards, but Civ III was the first one I got in the series.

CTR>entire crash bandicoot series

ps: another game I forgot to mention and imo one of the best games ever

I looked around, but could not find any. Is Eenie Aye Over such an old game that it is becoming extinct from the general knowledge pool and being replaced by Nintendo, Playstation, and Skyrim?

Does anyone fly kites anymore?

It's kind of sad (but not unexpected...and this is just my own personal feeling on this matter) that when asked to remember games from your childhood that people would rather remember Donkey Kong rather than baseball, flying kites, playing kick the can...

Society has become more and more disassociated and children are learning to just stare at computer screens.

What if I told you, I just interpreted the title as "videogames" and not all games. In dutch we usually say 'spel' for boardgames or outdoor games, but we use the english word 'game' for gameconsole games.

I think it's being re-introduced as part of our company's fitness regimen. My boss told me to go fly a kite just the other day.

Well, played a lot of soccer/football (for you non-Americans) when I was younger. There's a kid's league that goes from Kindergarten to the 6th grade or so, plus playing it during recess was a popular pass time. 500, where you throw an American Football from a distance, while shouting a number between 100 and 500 to another group of kids who would then try and catch it. Whoever got to 500 first would then throw the ball. There was also tag, freeze tag, red rover, basketball, and other games. I also did karate in grade school until I broke my arm. In junior high I got more into doing a martial arts class (teaches a bit of everything) and then my knees went to crap. 5 knee surgeries in about as many years.
"Eh, whatever."

Anyone remember the American Heritage games?

I bought Dogfight at a garage sale. I still have it. My cousins had Broadside but we rarely played it.

what about pushoff/king of the mountain, where you pushed other kids off the snowbank and watched them tumble helplessly to the frozen ground? i enjoyed that game very much, always ended with someone crying...
also, when i was young we'd hide in the bushes at night and throw apples at passing cars. we never had a name for it, but man was it exciting. especially when they'd chase us. we never got caught luckily, because i'm sure we would have received a world class beating from some of the guys whose trucks we pelted. looking back now, it probably wasn't very smart, but it was a lot of fun...
