My mother-in-law is a vegatarian since her 4th, because that's when someone told her it were actual animals that she was eating. She still is a vegatarian to this day. I find that quite remarkable, but now I see how it probably went down.

I imagine dinner at mets's house being something akin to Poe's 'masque of the red death'.

Vegetarians are responsible for less consumption of plants than non-vegetarians. What do you think fed the cow you're eating?

but that's non-parallel to my argument. See, I don't care about the consumption of plants, because I'm not hypocritical. Plants deserve to be killed and eaten, just like animals.

but vegetarians for whatever reason have a disposition to animals and not plants, which, in my opinion, is hypocritical. Either all life is sacred or none of it is. If you pick and choose, you're fast and loose with your morals

Fair enough.

I was looking for the video of two Dutch TV hosts eating fried chunks of each other's asses, but I just got loads of Americans doing podcasts about eating ass.

See if you can find the Dutch one though, it's good.

See, there's a difference between morally being OK with it and enjoying the taste.

I probably wouldn't like the taste...

1) If you are saying that "vegetarians are hypocritical," you are not making an argument about the ethics of eating animals, you are just being a jerk. Vegetarians may or may not be hypocritical as a matter of fact, but that doesn't at all affect the object-level question about whether we ought (not) to eat animals.

2) You're not making an argument about actual vegetarians, you're making an argument against the strawman vegetarian in your head so that you can be more comfortable. Most actual (non-religious) vegetarians don't say bullshit like "all life is sacred," and that's certainly not the reason why they don't eat animals.

2a) Even if they did, you have to steelman if you want to have a legit argument. Find the best possible version of vegetarian ethics and attack that, instead of whatever random quote you found on the internet that you didn't like.

3) Nevertheless, if one believes that all life is sacred, the best thing to do is destroy as little of it as possible when it comes to your diet, which is exactly what vegetarianism is about.

He should watch "Day of the Triffids." He'll want to kill all those nasty green fuckers!

My daughter went veggie when she saw a roast suckling pig.
I on the other hand remember when butchers shops had things that were obviously dead rabbits, chickens, etc, hanging on hooks outside. I always knew that meat came from animals. To a modern supermarket shopper, it's not as obvious. and kids who eat only burgers, fish fingers, turkey dinosaurs, chicken nuggets, etc, sometimes really haven't made the connection.

I agree with the above, actually.

For the record, I think the average chunk of American person's ass would taste like French fries.

This reminds me of Spanish tapas bars I saw this summer. They look like butcher shops:

To all you vegetarian-haters :P

There's also the fact that vegetarians don't at only PLANTS. They consume dairy, nuts, and fruits too! None of those involve actually killing anything. Only vegetables! And th real vegetables, not the stuff we CALL veggies like peas, and tomatoes, and corn, which are actually FRUITS
