Really wish they would, but it seems unlikely. Their biggest chance is Scotland (who are borderline Tier 2 these days) fucking up their last match, but I won't hold my breath.

well their last match is against samoa, they could technically lose as samoa aren't that bad but doesn't sound very reasonable...
also, let's say they lose that game and get the defensive bonus+ofensive bonus (like south africa did against japan)

right now japan has 8 points and scotland 10 points.

japan wins with no ofensive bonus aganst the US.

so that would make 12 points each. japan ends with a record of 3v1d and scotland with 2v2d... same amount of points, japan with a best win record but scotland beating them in head to head. how would the tie breaker work?

No way would Scotland score 4 tries while still losing to Samoa, so it doesn't really matter.

That said, if that happened it would come down to point difference, in which case I think Scotland would win.

Well pretty sure you would ve said no way south africa loses vs japan scoring 4 tries at the beginning of the competition...

Can t wait to see what we ll do against ireland. It kind of sucks that we didn t get any southern nation in our group. Really boring, it was all apetizers till now, waiting to face the only worthy opponent.

quality stamping, that.

i'm not terrible au fait with the ol' rugger, but don't you need to pretty much gouge someone's eye out and spit in the socket to be red carded?
had i been wise, i would have seen that her simplicity cost her a fortune

yup, we got dominated by the irish, considered the second best team in the world right now and now we ll have to face the best team in the world.
Honestly, amiracle can happen, it has already happened many times. For allI know, if we beat the kiwis, we'll get eliminated by whoever in semis though.

If France manage to beat NZ then getting past either SA or Wales in the semi-finals ought to be a comparatively straight forward task.

Then they'd get to the finals and get creamed by Australia. Australia are on absolute fire.

in 2007 after we beat NZ in quarter finals we faced england in semis and it was supposed to be a piece of cake, but wilko just hammered us with all his drops and penaltys. In 99 after we beat NZ in semis we got hammered by the aussies in the final. each time we beat the kiwis we lose the next game. I'm fine with that... if we eliminate the blacks and get hammered next it will be a good WC for us.

Those were the days. Ignoring the entire principle of Rugby and just playing Headers and Volleys instead.

the All Blacks will hand France there ass, but if i was a betting man and the odds were good i would be putting $50 on Aussie.
the way i see it they are the team to beat and with half the All Blacks due to retire and getting slow i think Aussie will do them in the final

Even if we do take historical world cup games as the be-all and end-all of indicators, you are omitting the heavy defeat that NZ inflicted on France in 2003. And looking at games that happened this side of Jurassic Park, between the last world cup and this one NZ have won every match that they've played against France.

NZ are hella strong, and if France can suddenly up their game enough to beat NZ then beating SA should be a relatively straightforward task.

NZ always beats france in test matches, and we beat them half of the time in WC.
Austraila winning this WC is pretty much what I said all along. here is a little reminder of my initial prediction, with france beating NZ being an obvious "superunderdog" bet.

betiko wrote:Well if you think that, you re confident to see you guys win against australia?

Anyways, here are my forecasts all the way:

A australia wales
B south africa scotland
C NZ argentina
D Ireland France

Q1 SA vs Wales
Q2 NZ vs France
Q3 Ireland vs Argentina
Q4 Australia vs Scotland

SF1 SA vs France
SF2 Ireland vs Australia

Final SA vs Australia

Winner Australia

'Half of the time in WC' being twice in the entire history of the competition?

I'm not rubbishing France, I just think that looking at a game played in 1999 is a God awful way to predict what's going to happen this weekend. At the last world cup NZ beat France in the group stages and then again in the final, and then have beaten them at every match between now and then. Now that is some relevant info.

I think New Zealand will beat France, because Jonah Lomu was a really awesome winger.
