TO hasn't return with the site since 8/15 therefore this tournament is now labeled "Needing Rescue". If it is not rescued within a week it will be considered abandoned.

I'm close to having this tournament rescued -- and will be able to pick up with the last couple of games in week 5.

Here's a spreadsheet with current standings, schedule, and teams: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing

As best I can tell -- I probably need to find replacements for the following players, shown by last active login: imac (8/16/15), unityhill (8/27/15), and isaax05 (8/12/15)

I don't see any reserves in the tourney -- I hesitate to move the tourney forward with three teams essentially defaulting.

V.J. will in all likelihood be stepping in for Phi Soul ...

Still will probably need two more players to pick up LA Kiss (1-3) and Spokane Shock (0-3) ... both of whom still have a shot at the playoffs!

jbed has requested one of the open slots and will slide in as the LA Kiss. I'm still open to another player taking the Spokane Shock, which I may cover for now, and/or carry one or two reserve players as well.

Week 8 games released!

Home teams have had it good for the start of the season, going 27 - 12 ... definitely a home field advantage so far!

Close races going on in the National West and National Pacific ...
The American South is really close as all teams are only separated by 1/2 game
American East contains the only undefeated team (New Orleans VooDoo) at 7-0, but they could still be caught by the rest of the division at 3.5 and 4 GB.

We're only a few league weeks out from the Pro Bowl ... I'd like to recommend the following. Rather than me subjectively choosing one of the home maps of a division leader based on a bid process, I'd like to instead structure it like this:

* Each conference is still represented by the dubs team consisting of the 2 division leaders at the break
* We'll kick off 4 games total -- each will be on the home map and settings of the 4 division leaders, only exception being we'll use a 20 round limit on each game
* If the series ends up 2-2 ... I'll start a 5th game on the Random map / esc / chain / fog ... winner will get home field advantage for their conference in the Arena Bowl

Sound good? The 20-round limit will help make sure the Pro Bowl week doesn't go on forever ...

I'd also like to amend the playoffs description in that each matchup will consist of 3 games on the home team's map & settings ... just to help take some of the drop luck out of the equation for those important post-season matchups.

Wow -- there are still a lot of fates to be decided with 6 weeks / games remaining for most teams, as we stand just one regular season week away from Pro Bowl week. (I didn't get any negative feedback on my proposed changes to the Pro Bowl format, so I think we'll go forward with those. viewtopic.php?f=91&t=213015&start=25#p4751444)

3 divisions remain relatively open and close -- with Arizona starting to pull away in the National West.

The National Conference is showing some strength from the Pacific Division in terms of the Wild Card race, but we'll see how that progresses.

Too early to call anything in the American Conference -- all teams are still in the hunt, although Orlando has a little extra work to do to get back into the Wild Card hunt, although they're still very much in the South Division discussion.

*** I will take a look at all team records, division records, and conference records at the end of the season -- I have been trying to keep those updated and accurate week-to-week, but in case I transposed information incorrectly, hopefully I'll catch that as we enter the playoffs. Please feel free to double-check me for your team record(s), and let me know of any discrepancies along the way! Thanks!!

PRO BOWL WEEK UPDATE!!

If the season ended today, the playoffs would be:
National WC: SPO @ POR
National Div: [SPO/POR] @ ARI
National Conf: [SPO/POR/ARI] @ SJ

American WC: CLE @ PHI
American Div: [CLE/PHI] @ JAX
American Conf: [CLE/PHI/JAX] @ NO

We still have plenty of close races though -- National Pacific is a log jam between SJ, POR, SPO -- American South and American East are still up for grabs with 4 or 5 games remaining. National West is close to being wrapped up by ARI, but LV is still in the running there.

Wild Card races are still wide open with all teams still having a mathematical chance of landing one of them!

On to the Pro Bowl matchup:

DJ1985 (ARI) & molespe (SJ) will represent the National vs. Tedspur (JAX) & Mojo2222 (NO) representing the American

Home field advantage for the Arena Bowl is on the line -- good luck to both conferences!

Update on the Pro Bowl:

American and National have (in all likelihood) split the series 2-2, so we'll turn to a neutral field tiebreaker to decide the week's results.

National won their home game @ NO, and a road game @ SJ
American won a road game @ JAX, and are all but done wrapping up their home victory @ ARI

Good luck in the tiebreaker to both conferences!

With a victory in the random neutral field tiebreaker in WWII Poland ... the National Conference emerged from Pro Bowl week with a 3-2 record over the American Conference. Congratulations!

I've updated the standings spreadsheet, and just sent out invitations for Week 16 games -- good luck down the stretch with the final five weeks of the season ahead of us!

Re: Arena Football League! [Week 19 - two weeks to go!]

Postby rjhankey on Thu Jan 14, 2016 8:13 am

Here we are in Week 19 with two games remaining for all teams! And, there's still a lot to be settled in the playoff picture ...

  • Arizona (DJ1985) has won the National West but still may need to win out in order to secure home field advantage in the playoffs.
  • San Jose (molespe), Portland (chidone), and Spokane (rmjw10) are all in the race to win the National Pacific and with no intra-division games remaining, it'll be an interesting finish! SJ currently holds the head-to-head tiebreaker against Portland and thus currently holds the division lead.
  • The National Wild Card will be largely determined by who takes the Pacific division, with the other two teams getting the two wild card spots. Las Vegas (bearshark3) and Los Angeles (jbed) are poised in the spoiler role, and could shake up the Pacific Division standings.

  • The American South is up for grabs by either Tampa Bay (blonderic) or Jacksonville (Tedspur), tied at 8-8 with two games to go. TB currently holds the head-to-head tiebreaker and thus the division for now.
  • The American East was claimed by New Orleans (Mojo2222) a couple of weeks ago, and also hold home field advantage throughout the playoffs -- maybe it's time to rest their players in the last two weeks!?
  • The American Wild Card is still a three team race for two spots -- Philadelphia (V.J.), Cleveland (rjhankey), and Jacksonville are only separated by one game and it will depend on how these last two weeks play out. Jacksonville holds the Conference record tiebreaker over Cleveland in the Wild Card race. Orlando (Seamus76) is definitely playing spoiler, especially when it comes to who wins the South!

Good luck out there as we round out the regular season!

We've got one long-running game in week 19 ... once that finishes and we know where everyone stands, I'll release week 20 ... I'll keep an eye on the outstanding game though and may change that approach as needed if it runs too long.

Here we go ... time to round out the regular season!

Two divisions have yet to be decided ... National Pacific will go to SJ or POR, SJ holds the head-to-head tiebreaker, so the only way POR gets the title is if LA defeats SJ. POR does have a wild card spot locked in, so will be around for the postseason regardless.

American South will go to TB or JAX, TB holds the head-to-head tiebreaker, so ORL would need to defeat TB this week for JAX to have an opportunity to grab the division title. In order to secure a wild card spot, JAX would need to defeat NO this week, and have CLE lose to PHI -- JAX would then be in with the last wild card on the basis of the conference record tiebreaker.

If JAX wins, TB loses, JAX gets the division title ... then CLE is automatically into the playoffs with the 2nd wild card spot.

Moral of the story -- SJ and TB are in control of their destiny this week ... win, secure the division title, and both are into the playoffs.

SJ or POR will finish with the #1 seed in the National Conference, so that's also at stake this week. Whereas NO has had that wrapped up in the American side for a couple of weeks now.

PHI is guaranteed the 1st wild card in the American Conf, and SPO has a guaranteed 2nd wild card spot in the National, so they are looking forward to the playoffs.

We'll see how the races play out in the two divisions that still will have a lot of impact on how our playoffs picture looks -- good luck all!!
