Second worst movie based on a comic book?

Postby Symmetry on Sun Mar 27, 2016 5:11 pm

Have at it!

Batman and Robin has been left out, as it's clearly the worst.

'Dragonball Evolution'. Worst comic adaption ever.
'Attack on Titan' a close second.

Good call, I'd forgotten about manga.

Yeah, that's got to be the worst ever comic book movie. Which Fantastic Four movie is that in the poll? The 2005 or 2015 movie?

I'm thinking maybe Howard the Duck, 1986 or maybe Stallone's Judge Dredd, that was pretty awful. T

The 2005 one, although I've heard nothing good about the new one. I kind of have a soft spot for Stallone's Dredd. It was crap, but fun.

Howard the Duck, however, is a good call- it's just crap.

Ugh. Evolution. The only thing it had in common with the manga, were the names of the characters. Turned a comic about fun, adventure, and action into an angsty teen high school movie.

Of all the movies listed above, the only one I've seen was Batman Forever. It sucked, but not as bad as Judge Dredd. I'll have to second that particular nomination.

anyone know if DC has any plans for "the Spectre"? be interesting to see how they would ruin that one...
the Ostrander/Mandrake run of that series is awesome, imo. one of the few comic collections i have kept lo these many years...

Superman 64? Woops, that was a terrible video game!

What about The Hulk (2003)?

The Hulk wasn't THAT bad. Sure, it wasn't great, but it doesn't belong in the list of worst comic adaptions.

More mediocre than terrible, to my mind. Its most memorable thing is that you can make make the "You wouldn't like me when I'm Ang Lee" joke.

The live movie of the 'Lucky Luke' comics was pretty terrible.

All of those are pretty terrible, however I must disagree with sentiments against Judge Dredd. That is a classic. To be honest, though, I've never read the comics.

I sort of agree, but classic is pushing it. If I had to list my top 5 movies solely on Stallone being in them, it wouldn't make the cut.

It's still more fun to watch than Dredd though. That was a better film, but less enjoyable.

Judge Dredd is one of the greatest "hanging out with your bro" movies, along with other late 80s-mid 90s actions flicks like Face/Off.

As far as Stallone movies, Judge Dredd definitely cracks my top 5 list. About the only ones I can think of which might be better off the top of my head would be Tango & Cash, Rocky III, and Demolition Man. Of course First Blood deserves a mention, too.

In no particular order- Stallone films

Rocky
Rocky III
Demolition Man
The Expendables
First Blood

If you're going for hanging out movies:

Die Hard
Top Gun
The Matrix
Bad Boys 2
Point Break

The 2012 Dredd movie was much better and a lot closer to the actual comic book character. The Stallone Dredd is just silly nonsense. I can see how some may think of it as a guilty pleasure I suppose. To me it's just annoying. And LOL at "classic".

Whatever floats your boat man, it's all cool with me daddy-o.

What, no love for Copland? Meh, maybe you've never heard of it, wasn't a big film but it might be one of Stallone's best performances.
It's a good movie. Certainly a lot better than demolition man.

I saw it- Stallone was good, but he wasn't Stallone, if you get my meaning. The movie was OK, but seriously, I'd rather rewatch Demolition Man.

Most of the worst ones are sequels. Any of the Crow movies other than the first, Son of the Mask, Richie Rich Christmas etc. Of the options on the table I am taking the Punisher. Surprised Ghost Rider didn't make the list.

I have a long standing love affair with Communuty. One of the courses is " Nicholas Cage- good or bad*. Is he a good actor or not?

I can't decide

I think the Robert Wagner Prince Valiant is worthy of consideration for the nomination.
