I'll have to look this one up, but I recall hearing an argument where charity rates is linked to the involvement of the highest level of Government. The argument was that over time, people get used to the notion that the "government" can do it, so they are less likely to do it themselves.

That's why organized religion MUST start paying taxes!

Huh... What happened to separation of church and state. I'd insert a facepalm here, but thats just me. Keep your money grubbing fingers off NFP's. What you are suggesting is basically anywhere from a double to triple tax on the money.
Also did mrswdk the great supporter of the CCP really say this?!

That might work for people like Stalin and Mao, but in America no one has yet taken away the guns. The citizens still have power, and as a result they still have their freedom.

With the citizens in charge, reds like Bernie, who would pilfer the pockets of every single American, will never take power.

Mind = Blown.

Aren't religions non-profit organizations? Or are they different in the US? Because if they are the same as here I don't see the point in taxing them.

Yes. Any religous organization here is a nonprofit organization. I was just pointing out the ridiculousness of Bernies statement that we must Tax Churches/Religious groups. That and the fact that the government needs to keep their dirty grubbing fingers off of the nonProf's. Any money given to them is already filtered into Income tax, and then they have to pay property tax and other taxes for the building in use. What Bernie is suggesting is literally a triple tax on a set of money to be put in the wasteful hands of politicians (DEF: Blood Sucking Leeches) who are inefficient and corrupt. That and the fact that most of the organizations including food pantries, homeless shelters, and other helps for the poor are run by churches or nonprofits (which if your are going to tax churches you must tax them as well) in the US. Ultimately his suggestion hurts the poor more than it would help them. Its pure idiocy. Thanks Bernie.

Here is the World Giving Index

(giving map)

It's true that more affluent countries give more, but most of that money is raised from the lower-middle class. Despite big photo-op cheques handed over by the rich, the overwhelming majority of charity fundraising focuses on people who are either just scraping by or slightly higher.

Meanwhile, study after study after study confirms that the rich tend to be pricks, like this one:

Why not tax Churches?

Churches are becoming increasingly more involved with politics and we have politicians trying to force feed Americans their brand of religion.

That can't be true. The philippine version of the middle finger is bowls of dry rice thrown at your face while being called a 'baboy'.

Fig sign is a gesture made with the hand and fingers curled and the thumb thrust between the middle and index fingers, or, rarely, the middle and ring fingers, forming the fist so that the thumb partly pokes out. In some areas of the world[which?], the gesture is considered a good luck charm; in others (including Greece, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Russia, Serbia and Turkey among others), it is considered an obscene gesture. The precise origin of the gesture is unknown, but many historians speculate that it refers to a penis penetrating the female genitalia (to which The Finger also refers). In ancient Greece, this gesture was a fertility and good luck charm designed to ward off evil. This usage has survived in Portugal and Brazil, where carved images of hands in this gesture are used in good luck talismans.[11]

I support your stand on Churches, they need to stop the backing of candidates that want more religious power in government

Moreover, what is material wealth when you are lacking the greatest wealth of all, the love of your fellow humans?

When was the last time your employer gave you dollar bills as a reward for your labor? I've been getting electronic bits directly deposited from one account to another for years now. Ironically, I can use those bits to buy gold, silver, ... which I actually have done so.

Oh yes at an inflated rate of course, shall we have the conversation again about getting $1.00 Or 50 cent pieces at your local bank again?

This was a landslide victory for Bernie Sanders. Now he's pressing Hillary for another debate before the New York primary.

Hillary is crying about the negative campaign advertising from Bernie Sanders. My GOD! is she sensitive or what? Sanders has been hitting her with soft fluffy pillows.
