Yup! And until the facebook one actually drops in 2020, I think it's going to push bitcoin higher. I have no opinion on if it helps or hurts traditional BTC once it drops.

exactly how i predicted in my mind (and how i told a friend of mine that could happen, who was super excited about it -- but did not jump in) the last time.


it's the perfect tool for that kind of manipulation..


now, don't ask me in the long run what happens. i don't know. some type of digital coin might survive.. given certain conditions.. but that's what our currencies are nowadays anyway, they're not backed by gold.. they're backed by faith.. the same with bitcoin.. if you build a story strong enough that people has a lot of faith in it..

but meanwhile it's the perfect tool for people like NP and chatstevens to say they're rich because they have bitcoin, when they're probably 20k on debt on their 5 credit cards.

I agree with you, bitcoin has value based on belief. One thing it has going in it so far is that the early and most ardent believers are some really fucking smart people. But that probably isn't enough to keep it going forever with value increase. At some point it's going to have to show more scale-ability and weave itself into the fabric of our everyday shopping experience to stay relevant and continue to grow. Also key is how Gov't/regulators react over the next 5 years
