When I was a kid we dug a hole in our backyard and kepted digging. Deeper than I was tall with my hands straight up. Getting out was an effort. Neighbors heard about it and came to see it. They were concerned, then impressed. :D

Three weeks in there was a storm and the power when out. The spot was in the alley and mom was afraid the repairmen would fall in. We where all outside in the rain backfilling it. Never got the ground back to even.
