Americans Don't Like Putin, But They Respect Him

What does Putin have on Old Joe and the Rats? Is Old Joe being blackmailed via Hunter by the SVR?

Senate Democrats on Thursday blocked a GOP-led effort to impose sanctions on a Russian natural-gas pipeline amid deteriorating talks with Moscow over its military buildup along Ukraine’s eastern border.

Maybe we give him too little credit and Sloppy Joe has become the first president in US history to realise that all this headbutting with Russia is dumb and counterproductive.

We aren’t gonna support Ukraine militarily. It’s ridiculous to posture and pretend we will.

https://www.politico.com/news/2022/01/1 ... ine-527076

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) secured the vote in December after months of holding up confirmation of President Joe Biden’s ambassador nominees. It was a tactic that drew harsh criticisms from Democrats, who complained about the Texas Republican’s blockade of foreign-policy nominees stemming from his push to sanction the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, the Russia-to-Germany energy project that the U.S. and bipartisan majorities oppose.

Despite their previous support for sanctioning Nord Stream 2, most Democrats sided with the Biden administration in opposing Cruz’s legislation, arguing it was a poorly-timed and politically motivated measure that would break the U.S. from its European partners at a time when unity is essential to deter Russia, which has amassed thousands of troops along the Ukrainian border.

Senate Foreign Relations Chair Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) argued that sanctioning Nord Stream 2 immediately, as Cruz’s bill requires, “might even be the excuse Putin is looking for” to invade Ukraine.

Another top Democrat said Cruz’s bill would be a “gift” to Russia “because it's a signal of division at a moment when we need to be standing together.”

“This bill isn’t going to help Ukraine. It’s designed to hurt the president of the United States,” said Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), a key White House ally on the effort. “Some of our Republican colleagues have consistently put their desire to politically harm President Biden ahead of their desire to protect the nation.”

That's all a bit disingenuous given the conversation we were just having in the thread you made about Tory prejudice against Muslim MPs, and my point here was that disingenuous arguments do show.

Nothing disingenuous about a thread that is quoting Muslim politicians' personal accounts of Islamophobia they have faced at work. How dare you compare me to a deviant like CC poster saxitoxin.

the hypocrisy of the Rats knows no bounds:

hypocrisy 1
(1) the Rats say the filibuster is an undemocratic, Jim Crow rule that should be abolished
(2) Ten days later the Rats use the filibuster to stop sanctions against Russia from passing the Senate

hypocrisy 2
(1) from 2017-2021 the Rats claim Trump and the GOP are agents of influence of Russia, claiming this is why they're not tougher on Russia
(2) when the GOP tries to pass crippling sanctions on Russia, Biden and the Rats swoop in and stops it, saving Moscow's bacon from the fire

Make no mistake, I am Pro-Russia and I want the Land Forces of the Russian Federation to flatten the Ukraine into a smoothly compacted pile of dirt. I want NATO dissolved. I want Lithuania, Latvia, and the other one made into sniveling puppets of Moscow. But I have been absolutely consistent in that view. I'm not a glassy-eyed Rat supporter who uncritically gobbles up these hypocrisies for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

I thought you guys were all about equity? Why shouldn't I want the playing field leveled?

USA has a tax base of 330 million. By giving Ukraine to Russia we remove systemic inbalances and historic injustices.

We would redress far more imbalances and historic injustices if we would return Ukraine to the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.

I don't know why they even bother pretending these wars are about democracy any more. It's basically the political equivalent of saying you can't go on a date with someone because you're washing your hair.

The government and MSM don't represent the voice of the majority. Russia could walk through Europe right now and many would down arms and join them. My country is now a cesspit of left wing control that has purposely smashed public cohesion so the power is firmly in the hands of the establishment. Let's hope that's about to backfire. I welcome my Russian brothers. Clean up Britain!

Speak to people from the old Soviet bloc. Tell them you're inviting Putin in. Russian invasion is a big fucking deal. If my neighbours said that to Putin I would gently asphyxiate them then jump on their skulls.

The Anglo-American regime's propaganda narrative that all of Europe fears Russia and looks to the USA is breaking down as we just saw last week when the commander of the German Navy called for respect and admiration for President Putin (and then had to resign after the UK and USA erupted in hysterics).

I'm a person from the old Soviet bloc. I was raised to believe that the only good Russian is a dead Russian, etc., etc. 50 years ago I would have agreed with your statement. Maybe even 30 years ago.

Today, after a lifetime of studying history, I realize it's not true. Fighting wars to stop nasty dictators:
  1. Usually brings in even worse dictators; and
  2. usually kills thousands or tens of thousands in the process, and leaves millions homeless or at least displaced.

All systems are corrupt to various degrees, and the Russian oligarchy is more evil than most, but to the average man on the street the differences aren't significant enough to justify war. If there's war, incredible levels of misery are guaranteed for vast swaths of the population. If a nasty dictator stays in power, there will be lower levels of misery for fewer people.

I'm not saying anyone should be welcoming Putin with open arms. But the Ukrainian people will suffer a lot less if they swap their significantly corrupt government for a somewhat-more corrupt government, than they will fighting a war and having kilotonnes of high explosive dropped in their neighbourhoods.

Great news! This morning, the people of Ukraine spontaneously attempted to storm the Ukrainian parliament, seat of the country's corrupt, western-backed government.

Let us hope that, in the coming days, the people spontaneously topple the Ukrainian government and replace it with a pro-democracy government that requests immediate intervention of Russian peacekeeping forces to bring stability to the country.

The Russian Federation Ground Forces have already staged 100,000 peacekeeping troops in Crimea for unrelated exercises so are in prime position to render assistance to the people of the Ukraine, if requested.

I was not raised to say anything like that, and I don't say anything like that. My friends from Georgia and Romania might say that, idk. They would not agree with what you wrote but I am British, and I meant what I said to the ram, in response to what he said. Anyone who seditiously invites foreign militaries here, should be clear about the British response. I have nothing against Russians, that is Putin's fiction. The trouble with Putin is that any parallel system one might dream up is his to destroy. I am not suggesting there are no other issues, but appeasers have hamstrung every western operation so far this century. It has long been a mistake to appease Putin.

"Appease Putin."

That's like people who continue to buy-in to the idea that North Korea is a threat to anyone.

North Korea has 50% the population and 10% the economic resources of South Korea but - thanks to Anglo-American propaganda - everyone truly believes they're on the verge of conquering Seoul if not constantly bulwarked by the USA. In reality, it's a smokescreen the USA has conjured to prevent reunification of the peninsula which would not be in the interest of the Anglo-American warmongers.

Russia has 40% of the population of the Britain-less EU and a fraction the financial capacity. And it has to use those finite resources to defend a vast swath of territory surrounded by enemies and crumbling states on all sides. The notion that Russia is a threat to anyone is a fantasy concocted by the CIA and MI5 to (in part) justify keeping military forces within striking distance of Berlin and (in other part) because they are guided by Makinder's debunked Heartland theory of world power which supposes that Russia has the keys to the universe.

The best way to ensure stability in Europe and prevent a German resurgence is to stop harassing and annoying Russia and let it do what it has done for the last 400 years, which is keep the peace in Europe. This is its role. And Vladimir Putin is the architect of destiny.

Europe is like Yellowstone. You can't chain up the bears or the elk become too numerous and aggressive. We have to let the bear off its leash. The elk need to be culled!
