Biden's and Progressives' Follies, continued

Postby jusplay4fun on Sun Feb 27, 2022 11:57 pm

Biden claims that he wants the Supreme Court to "look like America."

The Supreme Court has 9 members. There is one Black (or African-American; you choose) on the Supreme Court now. If about 12% of the population is black and there is 11% (1 of 9) there NOW, why do we need 22% to be black? To "look more like American" we need another Hispanic woman to join Justice Sonia Sotomayor.

Biden cannot do math, or this is SIMPLY Political and Biden does a poor job to justify his campaign promise. I suppose in the age of BLM, this is excused and allowed.

Black or African American Population
The Black or African American in combination population grew by 88.7% since 2010.

In 2020, the Black or African American alone population (41.1 million) accounted for 12.4% of all people living in the United States, compared with 38.9 million and 12.6% in 2010.

(...)

The Hispanic or Latino population, which includes people of any race, was 62.1 million in 2020. The Hispanic or Latino population grew 23%, while the population that was not of Hispanic or Latino origin grew 4.3% since 2010.

https://www.census.gov/library/stories/2021/08/improved-race-ethnicity-measures-reveal-united-states-population-much-more-multiracial.html#:~:text=The%20Black%20or%20African%20American%20in%20combination%20population%20grew%20by,million%20and%2012.6%25%20in%202010.

NOTE that Hispanics are not considered a "race."

Background
The 2020 Census used the required two separate questions (one for Hispanic or Latino origin and one for race) to collect the races and ethnicities of the U.S. population — following the standards set by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB) in 1997.

"For too long our government, our courts haven't looked like America," he said." And I believe it is time that we have a court that reflects the full talents and greatness of our nation with a nominee of extraordinary qualifications."

Her nomination fulfills a promise Biden made during the 2020 presidential campaign ahead of the South Carolina primary when he relied heavily on support from the state's Black voters.

And, there is NO progress on closing the US-Mexico border to ILLEGAL aliens/immigrants. That invasion continues.

Here is a "lesson" on Government by the ex-bartender AOC:

During a conference call with the leftist political group Justice Democrats, Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) revealed that she has no idea what the three branches of the U.S. government are.

"If we work our butts off to make sure that we take back all three chambers of Congress — Uh, rather all three chambers of government: the presidency, the Senate, and the House," Ocasio-Cortez said in a pitch to recruit more far-left political candidates.

As most of us know, the three branches (not chambers) of the U.S. government are: executive, legislative, and judicial.

After a video of her erroneous statement was widely circulated on social media, Ocasio-Cortez lashed out on Twitter, writing: "Maybe instead of Republicans drooling over every minute of footage of me in slow-mo, waiting to chop up word slips that I correct in real-tomd [sic], they actually step up enough to make the argument they want to make: that they don't believe people deserve a right to healthcare."

Ilhan Omar

Remarks on AIPAC and American support for Israel
In February 2019, Republican House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, who some months earlier had claimed three wealthy Jews—George Soros, Tom Steyer, and Michael Bloomberg—were trying to buy the 2018 midterm elections,[126] threatened to "take action" against Omar and Rashida Tlaib for their support of the BDS movement. When journalist Glenn Greenwald responded that it was remarkable "how much time U.S. political leaders spend defending a foreign nation even if it means attacking free speech rights of Americans", and tagged Omar for a comment, she replied with a quote from a hip hop song, "It's All About the Benjamins", alluding to the $100 bill of that name. Asked by Batya Ungar-Sargon of The Forward to clarify who she thought was paying American politicians to be pro-Israel, she tweeted "AIPAC", a view that Ben Ehrenreich noted, had been argued and thoroughly documented 13 years earlier by two American political scientists, John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt in their book The Israel Lobby. Ehrenreich added that Ungar-Sargon's immediate response that Omar was indulging in "anti-Jewish paranoia" led to a media pile-on of attacks on her.[126][127]

A number of Democratic leaders—including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, and Majority Whip Jim Clyburn—condemned the tweet, which was interpreted as implying that money was fueling American politicians' support of Israel.[128] The Democratic House leadership released a statement accusing Omar of "engaging in deeply offensive anti-Semitic tropes."[129] The Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA) also denounced her statements.[130] Omar issued an apology the next day, saying, "I am grateful for Jewish allies and colleagues who are educating me on the painful history of anti-Semitic tropes," and adding, "I reaffirm the problematic role of lobbyists in our politics, whether it be AIPAC, the NRA or the fossil fuel industry."[129] The Anti-Defamation League accused her of promoting an 'ugly conspiracy theory' concerning putative Jewish influence in politics

and (....)

9/11 comments and World Trade Center cover
On April 11, 2019, the front page of the New York Post carried an image of the World Trade Center burning following the September 11 terrorist attacks and a quotation from a speech Omar gave the previous month. The headline read, "REP. ILHAN OMAR: 9/11 WAS 'SOME PEOPLE DID SOMETHING'", and a caption underneath added, "Here's your something ... 2,977 people dead by terrorism."[205] The Post was quoting a speech Omar had given at a recent Council on American–Islamic Relations (CAIR) meeting. In the speech Omar said, "CAIR was founded after 9/11 because they recognized that some people did something and that all of us [Muslims in the U.S.] were starting to lose access to our civil liberties." (CAIR was founded in 1994, but many new members joined after the 9/11 attacks in 2001.)

What a surprise, half this thread is dedicated to attacking Muslim politicians who stick up for Muslim interests. You really need to change the record, jp.

"Trump’s border wall breached by smugglers over 3,000 times, records reveal.

The barrier Trump touted as ‘impenetrable’ can be breached with common power tools"

So to recap, people who want to come here to work our shittiest lowest paying jobs can't get in but smugglers of drugs can (thanks Trump). Meanwhile USA is suffering from the largest labor shortage in a generation and republicans are getting upset their orders at fast food restautants are taking too long and it's being blamed on 'lazy people on unemployment'. But sure, let's talk about how AOC is the problem with this country!

You forgot about Biden's great Economic policies, Mookie. Did I mention HIS inflation, especially on oil and gasoline and FOOD?

And AOC is a wonderful economist, too. Let me go find things that clearly illustrate her economic brilliance. Perhaps after I comment on the unjustified Pukin' Putin's War vs. the Ukrainian people.

OH, I need to comment on Bill Barr's book on Trump and his memory what a JERK Trump is.

NOW lessons on Economics from that "intelligent" Congressperson AOC:

Ramesh Ponnuru of National Review Online highlights the latest miscue from U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

The socialist congresswoman said last week that if we had “an overall inflationary issue, we would see prices going up in relatively equal amounts across the board no matter what the good is.” She notes that we have instead seen “very sector specific” price increases, “which means that these are due to supply chain issues.”

This is wrong. Uneven price increases are consistent with overall inflation both theoretically and as a matter of historical fact (as in the 1970s). On the most charitable interpretation of Ocasio-Cortez’s remark that I have been able to make, she seems to have in mind the reasonable idea that an excessively loose monetary policy will eventually cause prices to rise in roughly equal proportions. But she also seems to be assuming, falsely, that we can’t have that kind of inflation at the same time that we have supply-chain weaknesses that cause some specific prices to rise especially fast.

The extent to which each of these phenomena is happening is something economists are currently debating. It would certainly be easier to resolve the debate if the presence of one of them implied the absence of the other. The world does not arrange itself so neatly.

Should we be surprised that the wrong AOC — as opposed to the Right AOC — knows little to nothing about economics? Of course not. Her general ignorance about public policy helps explain her mystifying beliefs. Take the Green New Deal, for example.

Democrats are increasingly lining up behind New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s call for a “Green New Deal,” but few, if any, have talked about its actual impact on global warming.

Even if all the Green New Deal’s goals were achieved, it would have a negligible, and likely immeasurable, impact on projected global warming, according to climate model simulation provided by a libertarian think tank.

“I seriously think the effect would — at best — be barely detectable in the climate record,” Patrick Michaels, a climatologist with the Cato Institute, told The Daily Caller News Foundation.

More wisdom from AOC and Elizabeth Warren, too:
FINANCE & TAX

Ocasio-Cortez boosts progressive theory that deficits aren’t so scary
By VICTORIA GUIDA 02/06/2019 03:10 PM EST

The Democratic Party's base is rallying around calls for massive social welfare programs like Medicare for All, a federal jobs guarantee and a Green New Deal — all of which would cost trillions of dollars and potentially bust the budget.

Yet a small but growing chorus of progressives say that policy makers are thinking about deficits all wrong: The red ink, they say, is not that big of a deal.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, (D-N.Y.), told Business Insider last month the notion that the government needn't worry about balancing its books should be “a larger part of our conversation.”

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) said Congress’s current system of finding savings to offset spending increases “doesn’t make any sense.” It is “clear that we need to rethink our financial accounting for the United States,” she said.
