Not all cooks are like that... if you have a game with a cook that has alot of negative feedback, then just drop the game. There are alot of people that are cooks only because they haven't had much luck in the game, but other cooks just throw in the game...

I hate the cooks that i only win 3 points from, but i am risking 100 if i lose to them.

especially when they join last before i can drop the game....

I had to move this to GD. Did not belong in plugins. Truth be told though, I would rather have deleted it. Cooks are a needed necessity of the game. It changes the whole strategy when you make your turn considering if they are going to retaliate cause they have nothing to lose or are they gonna quit - or even better are they gonna win the game.

But if you do not like the cooks there is a way to have fewer of them. Find one you like and help him with stratigy to move up. teach him to play terminator games so that he can take out 1 person before he loses and get more points than he loses. Teach a cook today.

Well, the cook that moves up will be taking points from somewhere, so him going up means another will fall back into his place.

hmmm good point but I think If a cook just stole a few points even from the rookies who end of quiting they could move up. You wc, I think could train 1, why don't you see if you can.

"cheeseburger! cheeseburger! cheeseburger! Pepsi, no Coke!"

sorry, i can't take a thread about cooks too seriously... where is that
guy with the swedish chef avatar? and what are cooks, anyway? are
you talking about the white bread and premium pieces of toast?-0

p.s.-i have taught a cook how to play in my deficient and absolutely
retarded manner... so i do truly believe in helping people on this site.

owenshooter I watch your threads in both GD and the subforums of GD. If someone takes the time to read through the attitude you like to portray, they would see you do try hard to help others. I hope you continue to help the needful.

Cooks

Postby sd031091 on Sun Dec 30, 2007 7:05 pm

I'll still hold faith in some cooks but after todays performance I've learned to be cautious w/ cooks. I ended up in a game w/ two cooks for allies against 3 majors (not exactly a fair match). It was clear that the oppositions best player in-game was green, so I tried to take the necessary steps to limit him. That was succeeding so I advised my allies to eliminate one of their players from the game, in the hopes that we'd therefore have more turns. Instead my ally, w/o informing me, attacks a resource territory (we're playing on the merchants map) of mine, w/ three guys defending. The green player promptly takes both and now we're essentially screwed. If he had told me he wanted to take it, or followed my advise, we could have won. I have a 78% victory rate, or did until this game. So, although all cooks aren't bad, WATCH OUT.

I love to play with cooks. :D :D :D When our team (dubs, trips, etc...) wins or loses I get more/lose less points than I do with higher ranked team-mate(s). :D
Why are you wasting your time by reading this?

Here's my latest cook complaint. I had taken the Arctic on the North America map and fortified each border with 13 armies, thinking I had the 3 bonus armies secured. Another player had taken Central America (a 6 bonus) but only fortified the border with 5 armies on the Canadian side, where a cook is sitting right between us. On the next turn, the cook cashed a set for 10 and used all 13 armies to:

A. Fortify his own position
B. Easily break the six army bonus
C. Sacrifice his position to break a three army bonus, leading to his elimination a few rounds later

If you guessed C you have probably played with a cook, too.

No need to diet as I have no problem with cooks, and there's no shortage of missed turns by all ranks during the holidaze.
