The gaming is based on keeping you coming back, which is fair to me ;)
Yeah, that is a very bad rule for this paid tournament, considering how long it takes for it to actually start (compared to in the past). I would be very pissed off if I found out I was eliminated simply because I didn't log in for a week because I had no other games (although, that would not apply to me, personally).

The "dakky bug" (as it will forever be known) is a separate issue that will also likely deter players from joining this tournament in the future. It definitely needs to be addressed in the right way.
First, this is not paid tournament, there is several “free” means to gather CC credits, then secondly the “dakky bug” is being discuss with webmaster and you may not have all the facts stating it’s a separate issue ;)
I paid US dollars, so it is a paid tournament to me and anyone else who did the same. Just because there is an alternative way to PAY with earned credits doesn't mean it's not a PAID tournament. I stand by for additional information on the dakky bug.

It's already been explained, but you're forgiven for not noticing it with all the noise in this thread.

The 7-day activity timer checks to see if you're logged in during the last 7 days. Since dakky never logs out, he never logs back in, so he's recorded as inactive.

Isn't than an oxymoron? I didn't log in because I was not asked to, so being recorded inactive while being active doesn't make me inactive? :)

I'm not saying it's right or wrong; just saying what happened.

Personally, I can't understand how you can live like that. I close any program I'm not currently using. Drives me nuts when I see people leaving 36 windows open. In fact, if I go to a friend's house and see that, I have to go through his computer and shut everything down. Just drives me nuts to see things turned on when they're not in use. At work we have a shared phone with internet capability; when I take over from the guy on the previous shift, first thing I do is go through the phone and shut down every running app. But that's just a personal comment that has nothing to do with the thread.

Now that BW is aware of what happened with you, he may be changing the system. I would have thought it would be coded to last turn taken, not last login. I guess last login was easier to code. I don't know how soon he will do anything about it; as you know there's lots of work to be done on the site and just one part-time programmer, so it could be a while. In the meantime, maybe get in the habit of logging in once a day, just to be on the safe side.

Well, if we were all the same, we wouldn't need a photograph. I don't close anything because the computer is "strong" enough to handle everything. Wasting electricity is another matter, but as you say, it has nothing to do with this thread.

It should be coded that you are auto logged out after 4 hours of inactivity on the site. It's easiest to implement and forces you to log in again.

Anyway, I don't have any tournaments joined so no need now to log off, ordinary/clan games don't care if you logged in or not in last 7 days. Speaking of, will I get credits back for being kicked for literally being active? (or at least a medal for finding the bug the harder way on the live site)

What are you doing to remain logged in Dakky?

I actually really don't know. Using Firefox. It just keeps me logged in. I like it this way as I don't have to log in each time I open the tab, but obviously the system on CC side is broken.

BTW. I can save "state" of Firefox (since last few versions) and even restart a computer or make Windows Update (with restart) and still stay logged in. My ISP is disconnecting me each 24h for new IP address and still logged in. I don't know how or why that happens but it just happens. I like it, but this behavior was not expected. I stay logged in on all sites but there are no problems there... (well, CC is specific, you can't do something wrong on eBay or gmail)

That's weird. Years back I could stay logged into CC for days/weeks at a time through my browser (even when I had no CC tab/windown open). But now usually I get autologged out all the time if I'm not actively taking turns, seems like anytime I visit CC I have to log back in.

I would totally support given Dakky a 'one of a kind' medal for finding this bug! I might even enjoy seeing some of the medal obsessed people getting their panties in a bunch because they can't easily achieve this medal.

I see where Dakky explained it as a theory, but I expected a MOD to confirm it if such a ridiculous explanation was true. That's a bad bug. This is the only tournament I play these days, so I'll make sure to log out!

And the multi window issue is an ADD/ADHD thing. I have multiple tabs open on IE, multiple emails open on outlook, and multiple pdfs and word docs open on my work computer right now (with it on sleep). I don't know how dakky stays logged in, though, as CC logs me out on both IE and Edge - I guess it's Firefox.

Mate I think you just diagnosed me correctly! I never went to a doctor for that, considered it to be normal. I have like 8/10 symptoms for ADHD. Thanks!

Anyway, I don't think it's Firefox, I think it's the cookies which have really extended expiry time. Or don't have at all, but are kept for the session being. And since the computer is never turned off, session is always active and therefore not ended.

Because I got a message that my Windows 10 installation will become unsupported in November 2019 (Windows 10 ver. 1803) and I updated it to 1903 (build 18362.239). That was on 5. Aug. 2019. Since then I didn't restart the computer or login again to CC. That was the last restart/shut down I made.

Before that, there were some windows updates which required reboot and therefore logged me out of CC, so there were logins.

Or maybe it was just an unforeseen side effect of one of Dakky's numerous attempts to evade or break a CC policy or event rule.

Be sure it was not. I never messed up with CC, only with Razor's events. Even dgz345 encouraged me to try to find bugs on the site itself, but never did such thing. This was a surprise to find a bug while actually doing nothing.

I support this. dakky deserves the GC medal for finding the important bug.

Also, I dont think that last login should be changed to last turn taken. The other player commented that he only plays this tournament, therefore if his games end quickly then there will pass more than 7 days waiting time from his last taken turn until start of the new round.

I think you'll find it isn't a bug
Dakky has done some "dodgy" things in the past and this might have caused a hangover effect.

I have been logged out 3 times today, so I don't believe that you are not doing something to keep yourself logged in. windows 10 and Firefox.

just like you did to chat and had Wham change things, so this could be something that you have done for yourself Dakky, an unintended consequence to another of your bot programs.

Even if it is because of some bot programs dakky has, as suggest Razor, or for any other thing that dakky did, it is still a bug that he was considered inactive because of the fact he didn't have to log in again.
It isn't "supposed" to happen because the token we get to log in has an expiration date, but it does get renewed if we are still playing. So what if some player is going to play non-stop for a week just taking 2-3h sleeps everyday ? That would apparently lead to a similar case. So yes it's a bug. ( or maybe not a bug, it is a case that wasn't foreseen by the developer, but I'd call that a bug.)

It's only affecting 1 person because of his own actions, it's an exploit not a bug, but now it has backfired on him.

Why would Login Date have some relevance? Using only that is very poor programming practice.
Take Last Activity Date instead and problem is solved. And dakky has panty of that in just 1 Game 19198629.

Can you explain? I'm not using any illegal means to access CC nor doing anything out of the ordinary. Not switching the computer off backfired on me? Good backfire then.
