"Laws are for ordinary people - governors are not ordinary people."
Edwin Edwards, my favorite modern day politician. Above quote given after he and friends were apprehended on an out of season hunting trip with 78 ducks and a seagull. He was reelected a few months later, served another term, sat out for a few years then went back and got elected again. At this time i think he's still in jail.

"Philosophers have hitherto only interpreted the world in various ways; the point is to change it." -Karl Marx
"I can think. I can wait. I can fast." -Siddhartha
"I'd rather betray the world than have it betray me."
"Liberty is precious-so precious it needs to be rationed." -Lenin
"Beware the leader who bangs the drum of war in order to whip the citizenry into a patriotic fervour. For patriotism is indeed a double-edged sword. It both emboldens the blood, just as it narrows the mind. And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the blood boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no need in seizing the rights of the citizenry. Rather, the citizenry, infused with fear and patriotism, will offer up all of their rights to the leader and gladly so. How do I know? For this is what I have done. And I am Julius Caesar."

anyone know this quote?

Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day
"Now you will receive us.
We do not ask for your poor, or your hungry.
We do not want your tired and sick.
It is your corrupt we claim.
It is your evil that will be sought by us.
With every breath we shall hunt them down.
Each day, we will spill their blood till it rains down from the skies.
Do not kill, do not rape, do not steal, these are principles which every man of every faith can embrace.
These are not polite suggestions, these are codes of behavior and those of you that ignore them will pay the dearest cost.
There are varying degrees of evil, we urge you lesser forms of filth not to push the bounds and cross over, into true corruption, into our domain.
For if you do, one day you will look behind you and you will see we three. And on that day, you will reap it.
And we will send you to whatever god you wish.
And shepherds we shall be, for Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, that our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee, and teeming with souls shall it ever be.
In nomine Patri.
Et Fili.
Spiritus Sancti."
