As discussed in the Into The Deep post-game talk.

This setup will have no power roles. Everyone will be simply Town or Mafia.

Rules (deviations/additions in bold and green):
Spoiler
1.The moderator is always right. Do not try and argue with them. However we are all human and we all make mistakes. The moderator will try and fix any mistake he or she may have made.

2. Do not edit/delete previous posts. Whatever you say goes into historical record.

3. Do not quote any PM's you receive from the moderator or another player. You may say your name, role, associated abilities. This is a serious offence and could earn you a mod-kill, and/or a blacklist from future games.
***ADDENDUM. You may not claim any role because there are no roles. You may only claim that you are town. (you may also claim you are mafia but why the f*ck would you)
******ADDENDUMDUM. If Dakky claims to have any role or claims to have performed any sort of game-related action other than voting, he will be modkilled.

4. The game will not be discussed outside this thread, unless your role specifically says you can.

5. All ‘votes’ and ‘unvotes’ must be in bold and (visible...) color. If they are not, they will not be tallied. (I.E. Vote: Mandy). You must first unvote and then vote to change your vote from someone. Mods may change this according to their wishes.

6. Lynching requires a majority of the total votes, once the majority has been reached any unvotes will not be counted. The majority is half the players alive +1.

7. You may vote ‘no lynch’ to end the day without a death.

8. Lengths of days depend on moderators. Usually they are indefinite until the game starts dragging and then the moderator enforces a deadline.
***No deadlines. Keep playing until you get yourself a majority. Remember you can vote no lynch if you really are desperate.

9. Lengths of nights depend on moderator. Try and send the actions earlier if possible, and save everyone time. It's a hassle for the moderator to pm everyone who hasn't sent in an action.
***This one is just for the mafia, boys. Mafia will have 48 hours to confirm their night kill once the day has ended.

10. Once your death scene has been posted, it's over for you. You can no longer post anything related to the game. Whining is alright, **Voices from beyond the grave** are alright, as long as nothing of substance is revealed. This means you can post something like "Damn you mafia!" or "Oh well. Go town!" but you cannot post and add to the discussion. This is a serious offence.

11. Be attentive and active in the game. You will be replaced if you don't post. If something prevents you to participate for a long period of time, announce it here or via PM. Help everyone's enjoyment of the game by being active and sending your actions promptly.
***I doubt there will be a lot of reserves here so the deal is as follows. You must post every single game day. If the day ends and you haven't posted, I will modkill you. If someone isn't posting enough to your liking just fckin lynch em.

12. You cannot talk at night. You can do joke votes like "zzzzzz" if you want but don't let it get out of hand. Different moderators have different tolerance levels.

13. If you have any questions or doubts, send a private message to the moderator and ask for help. It would be much worse to remain unsure about your role, mafia rules, whatever than to ask the moderator and then understand.
***There's nothing to not understand. Don't bother me with PMs. If you by some small miracle still have questions, address me in the game topic in bold and (visible...) color.

14. This is the basic list of rules. Moderators will have their own specific changes or additions to rules. Make sure to check them.

15. Have fun!

Balancing this is sadly a nightmare and I will need like 15 players before I can add the second mafia member. This may sound strange BUT I have various reasons for this. Firstly, I am expecting town to do very poorly here given recent games. Secondly, town typically underperforms in this setup. Thirdly, the EV guideline (closest to 50% odds town will win if random lynching) is 4 townies to the first mafia, 19 townies to the second. 13 town and 2 mafia gives town an EV of about 43% which is good enough for me. Town is likely to lose, which means you guys will feel even better if you do manage to win.

You can look into the setup balance here.

Players:
1. Metsfanmax
2. dgz345
3. BuJaber
4. blacky365
5. Ragian
6. Strike Wolf
7. Skoffin
8. Pikanchion (dead, day 2) (town)
9. Razorvich (dead, night 2) (town)
10. DDS (dead, night 1) (town)

In. Why do you forbid claiming roles when there will be no roles? If there are no roles as per rules, then one claiming a power role is obviously lying. That should not be forbidden per se.

Cause it's pointless and I just want to prevent people trying to puzzle out some pattern in role pms or shit like that. "was vanilla spelled with lower case v in your pm?" No. Not gonna happen.

I'll add my reply on the discord server as well:
aage on discord wrote:I get why you asked but I just want to avoid the game getting derailed into pointless discussions. I think people (especially the DBD players) need to stop saying "shrug this is my role lynch me if you want" and actually start defending themselves. Mets did a really good job of that in the ITD game, he was under constant pressure and never fell back on his role.

...

I get that it seems odd to just prohibit claiming outright, when there is "nothing to claim", but my expectation is that people will just say "welp im VT lynch me if you want, shrug" instead of engaging. That's what I'm trying to avoid.

Naive question about Rule No. 6:

6. Lynching requires a majority of the town vote, once the majority has been reached any unvotes will not be counted. The majority is half the players alive +1.

Sentence one seems to conflict with sentence two, unless by town vote you mean townies plus mafia. Sentence two makes more sense. To me, a majority of town vote would be less than a majority of all players. Perhaps replace the boldened text in sentence one to say a majority of all players currently alive.

I know...picky, picky....

I copy pasted the standard rules from the terms thread. ‘Town’ means all players alive.

@tobi. Everyone is part of the town. But then it's a question about alignment.

BTW town would have won last DBD game if Ragian figured out that he was a immune doctor...

I'll join, I will note however that optimal Town strategy for this setup is drastically altered (and Town's success rate greatly improved) by the following:
aage wrote:You must post every single game day. If the day ends and you haven't posted, I will modkill you.
If the first half of the players who post each day all vote for the same person immediately they can effectively lynch half the Town each day. Perhaps a minimum day length of 24-36 hours would be appropriate to prevent mass killings in the event of a speed lynch?

In the extremely unlikely event that a day ends before 24-36 hours have passed, you can say "I told you so" and I'll extend the "day" by however long I think the slackers deserve. Speedlynching is 99% of the time done because a cop claims to have found mafia. I don't see that happening here.

Don't you dare. It was a tokle game rather than mafia.

I'm only posting this once. This thread will be for Signups and for the actual game once it commences.

If I see ANYONE bring up the other topic in here, expect repercussions.
