There's two basic scales for IQ (I forget their names), one with a wider range (so a bright person would have a higher number). The score of 100 is by definition the average in both, nd it measures your distance from the average.
It also depends on age - an "average" 12-year old will get less questions right, but still be assigned a score of 100 as this is the number of questions a 12-year old is expected to get right. I don't remember what age you score on an "adult" scale without weighting.
