Re: Handicapping option for second player

What also happens when Second player starts with a bonus that can't be broken?

I am not sure exactly what you mean, perhaps "what happens when second player is allocated a really big bonus"? Surely this is the same in the current situation in Pearl Harbor where I have gone first and was provided ...

Re: Handicapping option for second player

I must say, I think we can all understand what you are driving at here. In most 1 v 1 games, it's definately an advantage and you are trying to provide a solution. However, I would like to challenge you on two points, just to get you thinking and developing your suggestion.

First, would this be ...

Handicapping option for second player

Concise description:
A game option that would provide additional armies for the second player in 2-player games

Specifics/Details:
I propose that there be a game option where you could specify the number of additional armies the second player is given in Round 1. This could range from say 0-10. I ...

Re: New dice/game option

Well sh4dows I take that as a vote for consideration as a game option. Not sure how we go about setting up polls and getting some sense of whether this is a good idea but hopefully people will keep contributing their ideas and adding revisions to my suggestion and we might perhaps pick up enough ...

Re: New dice/game option

This is exactly correct Darwin. To be precise:
1) At the start of a game, the CC powers that be randomly select a dice pool size, say between 30 and 600, with a pool size divisible by 6 with each of the 6 dice equally represented. This pool size is always unknown to the player, but the pool size is ...

Re: New dice/game option

yep, although I like the option of no dice games suggested by Fruitcake. Rather than no dice, I am asking for equal dice, although randomly distributed among 30-600 rolls. I think my additional "invisible dice" option is kinda interesting, which is virtually like autoattack without seeing the final ...

Re: New dice/game option

Look, I don't want to lose the element of risk or luck associated with an 8vs2 roll. I don't want a game where the bigger stack always wins. I just want a game where over the course of the whole game, each player is guaranteed the same dice.

How about a variant of my idea. Use my dice pool ...

Re: New dice/game option

Not sure I follow you TheForgivenOne. My point was that everyone who trashes my suggestion raves about how important it is not to be able to predict the dice and all the steps lack and others have taken to make it random. I don't consider scripts cheating. In fact, it has been the use of the dice ...

Re: New dice/game option

firstly, having a randomly changing dice pool size would effectively render the dice just like they are now. there is a 1 in 6 chance each time its rolled. the fact that its in a batch of 50k is for convenience and to reduce the fetch load on the site. and you still havent adressed the fact that no ...

Re: New dice/game option

Well Darwin, it would be possible to code up a program to predict the odds of winning given my proposal if you actually A) knew all the dice that were thrown (which you couldn't know because what you roll when your opponents roll is not visible and B) if you knew exactly how big the dice pool was ...

Re: New dice/game option

Well Joshyboy, it is simple, you would never have to be bothered with my suggestion since it is an "option". I disagree with most of what you say anyway. I am sure one could work out the odds of 3vs2 dice from a pool of 600 dice but it isn't like this pool is transparent to the roller. In fact, I ...

Re: New dice/game option

Thanks for summarizing my suggestion so accurately MichaelSableheart. My suggestion is just a game option, and it would be far simpler to adapt the intensity cubes algorithm (for this option only) than what lack did previously.

Re: New dice/game option

My sugegstion Darwin is not incompatible with other elements of Risk. I love most of the elements of the game and I am only suggesting an "option" to the settings. Yes, the game is based on the risk of the dice roll. This is equivalent to the game of roulette where on any turn any number could be ...

Re: New dice/game option

Yep, as an option was all I was suggesting. However, even if you could visibly track how many 6's you have recently thrown (and hence might not want to continue attacking because you know 1s are coming) you would not be able to completely count dice because you would not know how many 6s (or 1s) you ...

Re: New dice/game option

My intent was not to make the dice random, only that the dice would be randomly drawn from a pool. I agree that it is possible someone might create a dice counter plugin to exploit the odds of rolling X # dice with my suggestion, but even such a plugin would not know the dice rolled by your opponent ...

New dice/game option

I would like to propose a new game option fueld by the thousands of complaints about dice. Why not draw dice from a pool of dice so that everyone is guaranteed to have the same dice? For example, at the start of every game, everyone has a "dice pool" of 300 dice (50 repetitions of each of the 6 ...

Re: WWII Pearl Harbor - [Quenched]

Ok, I agree that the map needed some revision as it gave first player too much advantage, but this revision have made the planes virtually useless; I am sure others have made the same comment. I suggest a subtle change. If you own X number of the same planes, you get a bonus of:

2 Planes: +1 bonus ...
