I'd even go as far as to say that abortion should be mandatory.

Personally I believe the whole imprisonment system is flawed.
Take a lad who smokes pot or perhaps steals out of poverty and gets caught.
Both these crimes are fairly minor, in many cases the pothead is a harmless person who enjoys the habit. He is not hurting anyone and is certainly not dangerous to society. The person who steals to feed themselves or their family , does it due to need. Then there is the ever growing problem of the mentally ill being imprisoned for crimes that they have no understanding of. Instead of giving them help, we shut down the services that were there, and throw them in a cell.
Now you have 3 different people, all of which have committed minor crimes, yet we as a society chose to ignore the option of helping them, and throw them into an environment that is dangerous , demoralizing and savage on many levels. These 3 people are now exposed to violence , rape, drugs, isolation, abuse . 24hours a day, 7 day a week, for years at a time.
In order for these 3 individuals to survive , they must either adopt a violent and dangerous attitude themselves or else become another prison statistical death or even go insane as a result. When you release these prisoners , they are now traumatized and have a burden and punishment to carry for the rest of their lives. Few manage to actually reintegrate into society, many re offend and go right back into the system.
WE as a society think it is proper to mix cold blooded murders and rapists in with people who have been victimized by the system, when these formerly harmless offenders are exposed to years of abuse and torture, that is forced on them by the prison society, they themselves become savage and demented souls.
So you have turned a harmless pot smoker, a mentally ill patient, and a poor man, into real criminals. (if they survived the prison system alive)
I say if you are a repeat murderer and have spent so much of your life in prison , that living out in the world is not an option, you should not be allowed to live in a prison system , only to rape and kill at your leisure. I mean if the inmate is going to be incarcerated for 20-30 years, what does he care about human life and worth. DIE MF DIE!!

Unfortunately the problem of actually being 100% sure someone is guilty never permits death penalty. Whatever the moral standpoint, we cam never be totally sure in our condemnation, and so risk taking an innocent life away. The introduction of DNA evidence in recent decades, which disproved many seemingly watertight convictions, is a good example. Who knows what we will develop in the future which will prove the dead innocent?
But the financial argument VI detailed earlier is also a bit crippling to those who are pro-death penalty. And Nappy's opinions are just getting more and more ridiculous by the day! Mass capital punishment to clear out the prisons? You want to be taken seriously in this debate? Come on, put some effort in...

Actually, we don't think that's proper. Serious offenders are usually put in other parts of the prison.

It is not his role to kill anyone and not ours to kill him.

Nope.
You get the thumbs down from the Norse community on this one VTno-mark.
If a man commits this horrid of a crime, then he loses the right to a life.

cant you take away someones right to life by locking them up and throwing away the key?
Weeeeell, some may argue that, but why should the economy of the land fork out 500 bucks a week to house this man, who's life has effectively ended by this?

Neoteny says he's an axe murderer, but I disagree. God would just smite with his Smite-Ray.
I believe in God, I have no idea where you got the idea that I didn't.
God's first commandment to his children was "Thou shalt not kill" (translated also as "Thou Shalt Not Murder"). It applies to everyone. A murderer should not kill, and should not be killed by anyone. Murder is wrong, no matter what justification you may have. Sometimes doing the wrong thing for the right reason (i.e. killing in self-defense) has to be done , I know. I accept the idea of mitigating circumstances, but if there is an alternative we must take it.
If we are truly civilized, we can find another road.

The right to live does not come from a law book. No one ever loses that right, it comes from God. It is not the place of the State to determine who should live and who should die.

Well, I'm sure he has an Axe of Smiting and a Hammer of Smiting, but I'm trying to be futuristic here.
