Myself, I'd like to see a denmark map.

but what maps do you have in mind? that have been abandoned.

Would it be better if i set it in medieval times when denmark controlled more land in norway and sweeden?

Perhaps a time period map would be more interesting, but really...look at the game play on this map. It looks horrendous...all linear, even with added ports and connecting lines through the ocean. Denmark just doesn't look like that great of a game play map.

Here's a link to the old developmental atlas, which listed some of the abandoned maps. Linkity Link Link.

With a historical map, adding the south of norway and sweeden would be a good method to turn any liniars into rings, but looking at it, I dont see how its liniar, it seems very rounded to me, granted gameplay needs a bit of attention generally, but nothing unfixable. Could you give me an example of somthing thats liniar?

As for the abandoned maps, I cant find anything that either isnt quenched as another version, being made by someone else (I dont really want to race someone), isnt dead from copyright, isnt about a book that i have never read or simply an idea i dislike. If there is a specific example i missed perhaps...

Still little hook on this idea for me, but keep in mind, that's just me talking!

In terms of gameplay this map is nothing special... looks painfully like Unit_2's St. Lawrence with the islands and busy ferry routes. It will take some fancy graphics to make this exciting.

Nope, but do we need two maps that look the same?

Well then, what do people say overall?

Sould I make this map historical, using the southern part of sweeden as well (as seen in the maps i posted a couple of posts ago)
Should i keep it modern and see what i can do with gameplay,
or should i just not bother and find somthing else.

Maybe add Greenland to the Denmark area and create airports from Copenhagen to Greenland?

A possibility, but Unfortunatly, I'd have to hugely minimise greenland to add it to the map, and much of greenland is not really populated.

Medieval Denmark

Post by Balsiefen »

Right, as there seem to be a lot of gameplay concerns about this map, I thaught I might as well start from scratch.

The map will be historical, showing Denmark in Medieval times (not sure about exact date of scource map but it seems pretty early, before kalmar union anyway.) You can see a small version of myi Source map a few pages ago, showing where in sweeden will be included.

So far I've only got the basic outline for the small map, Gameplay should not provide too much trouble to improve and the map I'm using is extreamly detailed so accuracy wont be a problem. Graphics will come later, but I'm confident I've learnt a lot since Scotland.

Once the map is ready for gameplay comments, I'll post it in Map Ideas.
