Re: Washington state counties
maps of states have historically had a hard time getting past the idea stage around here, because the audience is so limited. Seems some folks think we have more than enough maps that include the US, so when a map of 1/50th of the US is proposed it can be difficult to find support. You'll need to come up with something unique in terms of graphics or gameplay to get people on board.

Re: Washington state counties
You're doing great for your first time and a new software jarrett. You've gotten a lot of great advice here so far. If you stick with it (and I hope you do!), you'll learn a lot from these guys and end up with something you (and CC) can be proud to show off. See if you can address at least all the issues mentioned so far before posting your next update.

I hate it when GIMP freezes on me, so you want to save alot. Also, make backup layers if your gonna modify a layer greatly
and if u need any help with anything, just give me a call

yes i know my mountains suck.
Next one will have names for everything and spots for army numbers.
Territories:54(i think)
Continents:6
Bonus: each mountain has a river running from it. conquer the mountain and its river for a bonus. but be careful because the forces of nature are against you. You lose 2 armies per turn on a mountain and 1 per turn on a river.
The coumbia river pairs with both the snake river and the grand coolie dam.
Are colors dark enough yet?

dude....
seriously....
this kind of looks like construction paper cut-out map, ala southpark.
your borders.... um... what?
The mountains...um.. are they going to be territories? And you lose 2 men on each turn? The bonuses better be huge to make up for that.

Re: Washington state counties(V2 OMG a mountain:P)
jarrett, it is REALLY hard to tell those grey blobs are mountains. Take a look at some of the maps already done with their mountains. I believe they're shown more from the side (bird's eye view) instead of looking straight down on them.

On a side note, if done well, such a stylized map might be interesting.

If done well is the key point there:P not likely to happen. And yes i know the mountains suck. Also I just got a mouse today so i can draw borders now. they will be in next pic.
Re: Washington state counties(V2 OMG a mountain:P)
More than the mountains are bad. This map has potential, but really needs significantly improved graphics.

Also if anyone would please make a list of all the graphical improvements needed.

Added borders that are supposed to look like what they look like.
Also dot in low right corner of each territory is for army count.

Re: Washington state counties(V2 OMG a mountain:P)
so are you planning on doing the graphics for this map? Or teaming up with someone like unit_2 did? I don't think your skill level is up to producing this map yet. You really need a little more practice before you'll get the support of the foundry. You got heart kid. But this foundry will chew you up and spit you out. It's a scary place here sometimes. Wait until DiM or Mibi find's this thread.

I suggest finding a program that suitable (I.E. not Paint), and then browsing the internet for tutorials. You'll be surprised by just what you can learn by reading and watching, and trying to replicate on your own. I think that is the only plan of action you have.

They're saying your mountains look nothing like mountains. Try again.

Probably not much better but im trying to make sort of a ridge thing. it would be for a mountain range.
