altkaese's & docchaos' Swiss doubles tournament

altkaese and myself are going to host a doubles tournament, based on a slightly modified Swiss System (hence the name).

Tournament Setup:
All the games will have the rules
Doubles, 6 Players, Freestyle, Flat Rate, Unlimited

21 Teams, 6 rounds of play.

Teams are seeded according to the sum of the CC points of both team
members when the tournament starts.

In the first round, top 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-15, 16-18, 19-21 play a
game each.
Winning teams of each game get 3 points, runner-ups 1 point, losers none.

Before each of the subsequent rounds, teams are sorted by their
tournament score. If there are teams with the same score, they are sorted
by their total CC score.
Best team in this table plays the next two best teams which it didn't play
against in any of the previous rounds (and the other two teams didn't play
each other as well). After this, best of the remaining
teams plays best two of the remaining teams it didn't play before, etc.

Additionally, there is a non-abuse-rule:
If there are only 2 teams left in a game, and one team doesn't play within the first 16 hours, preventing the other team from playing, or if a player from one team runs out of time, giving his parter the opportunity to have a double turn, this team is not allowed to be the first to play next turn (unless of course the other team doesn't play within 16 hours). If you don't follow that rule, the game will be counted as lost.

Every round, a different map will be played out of the following maps:
British Isles (1)
North America (0)
Philippines (0)
Space (1)
Tamriel (1)
USApocalypse (1)
Europe (0)
Ancient Greece (0)

At registration, every team shall name their favourite map out of these
maps. The most popular maps will be played in the following order:
2.,4.,6.,5.,3.,1.

That is, the most popular map will be played last, while the second most
popular map will be played first. The two least popular maps won't be played, unless there are more than 21 applications, in which case we might allow more teams and introduce additional rounds.

The tournament starts when 21 teams registered. To register, reply to
this thread.

I don't think you will get to many teams together since the setting is freestyle. However, I like the format (the swiss one of course) and wish you luck.

Well I think doubles freestyle is underestimated. It offers a lot of tactical opportunities.

I think it offers more the opportunity of being online the same time as your teammate.

Exactly. You can move armies to your teammate during his turn... if all the teams are aware of this games can be really interesting.

As for your date: Yes you have to find one yourself.

Yes. You will only play one game at a time for the tournament. Of course, you should always have space for one game when a round starts.

i agree with the post earlier saying that its a great format but is freestyle. i like the format every much though, helps let the privates and such (like me, a lowly lt as of this post) get some self esteem by getting at least some points!

haha and SargentFluffy are going to represent the Knights Crusaders is this tournament....map type doesnt matter to either of them.
