You also admire and love italians even though they also murdered maltese people in WII, so really doesnt say much!

Pointless. You are really very, very biased and not capable of going beyond your biases. I know that you love the British and hate (loathe?) Italians. No need to reiterate that. Bud did you know that just before World War II the British wanted to "donate" Malta to Italy as a friendly gesture? That's how much they cared about Malta...just a colony in their empire which they could dispose of when and how they wanted.

Come on hulmey. Besides even the British did bad things over here when they opened fire on the civilian population. Remember 7th June? The war has passed. It's been over for more than 60 years. Since then many things have changed. Learn to go beyond your biases or else you arguments will never be objective. Or do you mean that you still hate the Germans and the Italians for the events of World War II to this day and always will?

Your going way off subject. But comparing Bush to Hitler is very very wrong. Do the Iraq's hate bush, some probably! Did Bush commit genocide with the rest of the world?

Or was it Saddam Hussain and his dicatorship that gassed his only population?

PS, im very anti Bush, but to compare even remotely with a man like Hitler is utterly shameful!

You think by putting up something in bold instead of providing proper argumentation makes it a valid point? 'We won't even go there'? Good thing you're 'quite sure' then!

You're quite sure again, even though WWII is my favourite period and nearly all information regarding this subject is widely available (yes, it's true, people outside of Britain read books!).

I don't see why you would want to call me an idoit (sic) instead of providing some augmentation (sic), but if Ruben understands what you're reffering to (sic), all must be dandy! Carry on, soldier.

Actually the Italians did not block Maltese ports. It was the Germans.

My grand grandmother was killed during a German air raid in fact.

Even during the war there was a difference between the way the Italians and Germans operated. My father lived during the war and he told many things first hand about his experience.

I'll tell you a little story (off topic). Some Maltese were playing football with some Italian prisoners. All of a sudden a German Stuka popped up and he actually opened fire on all of them! They were not a target but he opened fire just the same. My father who was watching the game was lucky not to get hit.

He also tells me stories of how the Italians were much different from the Germans and they regarded the Maltese people as brothers. In fact he says that most Italian bombers used to drop their load on fields and not on buildings so as not to kill innocent civilians. Something the Germans did not do of course.

P.S. My father is very pro-British so don't think he's saying these things because he likes Italians! ;)

What a stupid nonsense is this  Battle of Britain was f****ed strategically, not tactically. Why not the name you said you wanted to use originally? Erwin Rommel, wasn't it?

Because some small minded tosspot would probably complain about that aswell.

Speaking of small minded tosspots, I really must complain about your new name.

The name didn't bug me as he never had bad intentions while creating it. I didn't even realize it was still an issue, so I suppose the change is good and now we can all sleep better. Well everyone except for Gypsys Kiss, but that's a small price to pay for some quality serenity.

that other topic that was raised...

The Luftwaffe had the Brits seriously outnumbered in the air and attrition would have allowed them to dominate from the sky and eventually bomb the English into oblivion or submission with little resistance. But one new piece of primitive technology was totally underestimated by the Germans who only bothered knocking out the radar towers along the east coast once. It was radar's ability to detect German planes crossing the English Channel which allowed the RAF to scramble all available fighters to intercept and give the English their only chance to holding off the Germans. That might qualify as a strategic & tactical combo, but regardless of your perception... it was a huge blunder.

Comrade Stalin could only provide a distraction to the Nazi high command as the Battle of Britian continued, because the German armies had invaded and moved deep into Russia.

Mate, you are wrong :( hopelessly wrong. I repeat that it was impossible to bomb a large nation into oblivion. The precision of carpet bombing would make any serious damage to the targets uneconomical. Look at the recent war in Serbia. The mighty US was pouring precision weapons but the air-defense capability was still there in a month. Targeting radar in the Battle of Britain would help tactically but not strategically. British would have just rebuilt them. Remember fighter aircraft had at most 20 minutes to operate after crossing the channel, which made bombers on both sides to operate essentially without cover.

I dont think that even nazis seriously thought about bombing into oblivion but rather submission, i.e. breaking nation's will to fight, as happened in Serbia in 1999. And they were essentially out of other options :!:

Finally, by the time Germany moved deep into Russia (1941), the battle of Britain (1939-1940) was over.
