a hurricane took a shot from the blue line, near the boards, the defenseman tipped it a foot after the shot. it went past Huet and right next to the far post for the win.

Hey Wicked, if this were a soccer series, i.e. total goals - Habs win 17-15! But I guess it's not a soccer series, so...

I'll be very impressed if the Canes get by the Devils in the next round. They're on fire. Best of luck.

Yeah if there is one team I hate it's the Devils. For some reason they irk me and have for the last decade or so. So in this case I'll root for the Canes.

It looks like half the Canadian teams are out. Just the Senators and the Oilers left. poor Calgary game 7 at home and they couldn't even get one goal.

The good news is in: Saku's vision should recover completely. No permanent damage. Prayers answered. I want to see him wearing a Heatleyesque face shield down to his upper lip at next training camp.

Round 2 picks, anyone? Does anyone else find it weird that all the favourites won in the east and all the underdogs in the west?

Senators in 6
Devils in 5
Sharks in 7 (though of course I'm rooting for the Oilers)
Avalanche in 6 (boo Theodore, but they're going to make it to the cup finals because all the big guns are down in the West - that's gonna suck)

Congrats, Wicked. I didn't think the Devils would flinch, but they made the Habs look pretty good for pushing the Canes to the brink in the first round. Now, I think your team's gotta be favoured to win it all, though I'm rooting for Edmonton now...

Update re yay go oilers: They yay go'd past game 1 in the Anaheim series. Yay go, indeed. An Edmonton-Buffalo final would be cool - either of those teams winning would be all right with me, though of course I'm rooting for the Oilers.

This years playoffs makes one wonder why they even bother playing the regular season with the top 4 seeds in the West going down. Incredible how a #8 seed has a real chance to represent the West in the Stanley Cup finals.

Or makes you wonder how they award a team the president's trophy when they play 24 games against St. Louis, Chicago and Columbus.

Just an update Edmonton up 3 games to 1 over Anaheim with game five set for tonight. And Carolina tied up there seiries with a 4-0 win over Buffalo. That seiries is tied at 2 games a piece.
