Leaving a game
Hi
Is it possible to leave a game after I have started one? If so, how?

If the game has already started, then you can't leave.

If you've lost that territory then they're called Paratroops lol! Nah it'd have to then revert to an "auto deploy on any remaining territory, in alphabetical order". It's got to be better than letting the other players down by forcing them to wait 24 hours. Sure there's times when accidents or the unforeseen occur and you can't get online so miss a turn. But when you know you can't get online to play your turn, folks will think kindly of you for not keeping them hanging around.

Re: For those times when you know you won't be able to play
I like option 1. How about they auto deploy on an adjacent territory (goes by alphabetical), and if you don't own any adjacent territories, then it autodeploys on the closest territory. This could be abused in freestyle, though.
Re: For those times when you know you won't be able to play
I think there should be a time delay on this. Say 11 hours 55 min, just in case someone gets back or something.

I like this, but you should be able to deploy on more than one territory. Also, I like having a "deploy on random territories" option. However, if not too difficult to program, I would really like to see either a "deploy randomly on territories bordering the enemy" options.

Bumplestiltskin
I was building up to that with the whole rumplestiltskin thing... i think the discussion has almost run its course but a few more votes would be nice.

Yes, a time delay should be there, otherwise you can "miss" a lot of turns in a weekend, for example when all other players in that game are around the same time. Then the game can be finished suddenly when you get back.

SURRENDER OPTION!!!
Maybe if there was a surrender option there wouldn't be as many player deadbeating or missing turns...In team games it could be like voting to surrender...So often in games I hear players asking just to be killed because of this or that reason and I am certain that if they had an option to surrender they would...

Re: SURRENDER OPTION!!!
I don't think so because then lots of people who are losing would just end it right there...just like if they were to not take a turn. Think if you are a REALLY good player, and win almost EVERY time, would you want a bunch of people just saying "I quit" and dropping out like that?

Re: SURRENDER OPTION!!!
well it would be better if they quit rather than suiciding or deadbeating. some lopsided victories could save a lot of time if they surrendered. points would be awarded the same. Im my humble opinion it is a great Idea!

- A pet peeve for many gamers is when someone who's losing abandons the game. It can be boring to wait out the last few rounds only to get beaten though so I can see why it happens. If there was an option to concede I think it would make everyone happy.

Retiring from the game
Im no quiter, but I was wondering if there is a feature to retire from a game. Lets say you are greatly outnumbered or your opponent has a large advantage over you that you do not see yourself overcoming. I think it would be a more noble action to admit defeat and surrender than to carry out a senseless mission and order the death of innocent men and women, oh yes my friends those armies we push around are people just like you and I!!! Ok I got a little carried away there but seriously, lets say you are going out of town and you will not have access to a computer, or you are on vacation and you DO NOT want to be on the computer, hey it happens. I think the option of surrendering for just those two reasons above warrant a disscussion about adding that feature into the game. I would also rather retire or surrender than to have may turns skipped and slow the game down for everybody else. What say you!!! In Chess you can resign at any point in the game, just saying that as an established case and point. Thanks for your time.
P.S. If this feature already exists please disregard, and could someone please tell me how to go about doing this?

Yes, you are. Finish the game like you're supposed to or pay 25 bucks to play an unlimited amount of games.
Re: Retiring from the game
I hate it when people deadbeat or in a real game say "i concede!" (i have a mate who does that on the Risk board .. what a tosser) Roll the dice to the end and allow the victor to suck out the marrow from the bones of your defeat.
you play for hours and then someone takes away the joy of the victory in all its drawn-out glory. That is really mean spirited.

Banzai!!!
If it looks like your going to lose just go all out attacking. Either you will be taken out in a round or two or you may surprise yourself by turning the game in your favor. Sitting there stacking armies doesn't seem to be getting you what you want so...

Re: Retiring from the game
What would be the problem with including an auto-skip feature? This way if you are out of town and are still in games, you won't waste other people's time by having to wait 24 hours to skip your turn anyway. The game would still take up space in people's active games, so they couldn't use it to abuse the system.
Re: Retiring from the game
There was a button that allowed people to resign from games. This was in place when the site initially went live back in January 2006, but was removed due to abuse. lack has said that it will not be coming back.

I have done this. However, remember if you have more than one opponent, you will get bad ratings for going suicidal against one person in a multi-person game. This only works in a 1v1 situation. Still, in a one on one, you can seriously speed a game up, as the defensive dice will generally reduce your armies quickly.
