I say get a city, then maybe move into rome, but ive never tried going to rome yet. I also think it depends on the amount of players and the positioning of the board, so i dont think i could comment much on a "what to do" because tehre are so many differing layouts.

Since you've asked so nicely, I've decided to create a 1vs1 game to unravel its mysterious intricacies. I'll report my findings soon enough.

Btw., give me a few examples of cities in this map please? I think I'm in trouble as I don't have any idea how to play it yet. lol.

This map is simple in a 1vs1 setting..

Just get one of the 7 Civitates Romanvm to start with and then, some more. Next target is Legio Romanvm, 'nuff said.

Classis Romanvm and Cohors Praetoria are a waste of time and effort.

Cheers & Enjoy.

i play to 1v1 games, and i must notice that these map strategy is much diferent then other map strategys, its have plenty neutrals who can create nice defence for bouth player to have same amount of bonuses, and you never know who will won a game, because playing first is not advantage.

so far when i have played i have gotten the city and tried to work it form there but i have only a 50% win average on the map. When you play with four people it gets harder. there are the ships that are hard to get. but hay maby while playing more i will discover a new strategy.

For my information, what is the process for finalising these Beta maps - when do they cease to be changeable? Also, can anyone tell me what (if any) are the identified problems that mean that this map may potentially have "unbalanced gameplay"?

well i play maybe 10 games, and from finished 500 games,so far nobody find any gameplay problem, and these game is very good balanced, because nobody can have any advantage in begining, and if you play without cards, then with bonus structure, where its not possible that in 2-3 turns get very large numbers of army(in some maps you can lost game because your opponent get very large ammount of army).

I think that 500 finished games, and withouth any detected problem, these map is pass test succesful :)

Yes, that is quite a plus. Does that mean it will soon cease to be a Beta?

This is not really my business, but was a link from Africa Proconsularis to Sicilia ever considered in the map-making? Maybe via Classis Misenensis? It is reasonably historically realistic, and might add to gameplay. The other thing that occurs to me is that there might be a link between Epirus and Italia. Again, reasonably accurate (see the lead up to Caesar's campaign at Dyrrhachium).

these is not ceasar map-look tittle
its Trajanus map. ;)

Conection bettven sicilia and africa will brake defensive structure in africa(mauretania tingitana-Aegyptus) and i think that these not be good.
These map dont have continents, and adding conection bettven Italia and epirus will not bring nothing to gameplay.

Are we talking 1v1 strategy or multi?

If 1v1, then there isnt much in arguing that take the cities and keep the other person's terry count down.
If muti., well take a city and its all improvise from there

Personally, if I've got any armies out east, I very much prefer to start out that way in that large group of banners.
...I prefer a man who will burn the flag and then wrap himself in the Constitution to a man who will burn the Constitution and then wrap himself in the flag.
