Re: Crazy Maps And Dice?
I have played like 30 games and only won 1 so far, but I love it here. I am planning on purchasing a membership in the next month or so as soon as I can afford it.

Re: Crazy Maps And Dice?
To tell you the truth it doesn't really bother me that the Classic map and Middle Earth map have changed into absolute rubbish and you want to know why?? Because i would much rather have a running site than a shut down one, and lets face it we (as members) have another 102 maps to play on, so losing two maps isn't the end of the world even if the Classic map was the foundation of CC.
And i am sure once the two maps go through the foundry they will be much more playable again.

As Jim says the more you tell us the more empathy you will recieve, keeping us in the dark simply breeds distrust and hostility.
Here in North Carolina I preside over a criminal bench and do not get copyright or trade mark cases, but I will state this site does not need to get into any real discussion what-so-ever with us (its’ paying customers) other then changes that had to be made. The necessary changes that have been implemented would satisfy most any court that this is not a copy of the game RISK™. So any potential crisis has most likely been averted.
I find it interesting that customers on here seem to feel they have the right or need to know all of the potential details of any possible litigation. It is as if that information would enable them as a customer to make some sort of difference or possibly change the minds of the site that they do indeed know what is best. That’s just not how a business is run that might face possible litigation. 90% of the replies to this thread do show most members do not understand the potential legal aspects of the change, nor the amount of money or years that it could easily waste while a simple injunction has the site shut down. I am sure they for the most part they appreciate your opinions but full disclosure is not necessary and potentially can cause bigger issues.
What’s amusing is the amount of upset members that are going to leave over it. Do you think that is really going to make any difference? If I owned this site, I would rest easily in the knowledge for every member that leaves another new one will eventually find the site.
Perhaps with the huge amount of enthusiasm this has created on this site younger players might be interested in pursuing a career in law.
Well im pretty sure you have never run a thriving business then, every good manager knows that the priority is to keep existing customers not just swop them with new ones

Im a TOFU miSfit

I agree with you.
I have no problem with CC changes the maps because of copyright issues but why change -
Attacks --> Assaults
Cards --> Spoils
Fortifications --> Reinforcements
Territories --> Regions
????

Re: Crazy Maps And Dice?
Today I've played my first turns after the changes were introduced (not on the Classic or Centerscape map, they are ugly for now, but will be changed, so no worries here)
1. Intensity levels - today I realised that the only thing that matters is did I win or lose. It isn't important how it will be showed, in intensity levels or doted numbers. So if this takes care of any legal issues, then good work guys.
2. Words - Does anybody really care if he or she attacks or assaults? Fortifies or Reinforces? Gets a spoil or a card? I certainly don't! So, again if this takes care of any legal issues, then good work guys.
All I want is Conquer Club alive and kicking! I guess that not a single member of this community wants that CC ends the same way Scrabulous did. If this is so, then these changes were most likely necessary and all CC members should accept them as such.
Somebody said in this topic that he won't play any more because, for him, the soul of CC is gone. I disagree, take a couple of turns and you'll see that the essence is still here and the only thing that changed is appearance.
All in all I totally support this changes for the reasons just stated.
Conquer Club live long and prosper!

i'm thankful i don't have any classic games up currently so i don't have to look at that map, and i also don't feel like the site owes me anything as i'm a wretched freemium, but i'd still like a new classic map up sooner rather than later. i've made all of my points there.

Well said!! I just gave Twill 48 hours to make a proper announcement or I am leaving this site
I dont want to be treated like in a fucking army. All threads on this topic except this one are systematically deleted. They feed us BS about potential copyright issues, but it all looks like the issues are far from potential. I dont understand how the introduced changes will prevent copyright infrindgement, because they dont!! Copyright usually covers derivatives of the work, so most of the maps will be an infrigement. So the only solutions are either to cut a deal with Hasbro, or to move to a free country like Bahamas, Holland or China

I have checked: I have started 3 threads on various aspects of this (online petition, Scraboulous, and something else). 2 are deleted, 1 is merged here. The one merged has the poll missing.
BTW, why is it all merged here? to make it completely unreadable and discussion die its own death?

In common with moderation across the site if two threads are started to discuss exactly the same topic they are merged.kletka wrote:BTW, why is it all merged here? to make it completely unreadable and discussion die its own death?
It is the act of creating multiple threads, which when merged lose their readability, that is causing the problem.
If conversation continues within this thread it is in the community's power to make it readable, coherent etc.
[On your other points kletka, this is not accurate to my knowledge, but I need to catch up in the moderator forums and will post again here if appropriate.]

Nothing. A petition is not necessary and would never be implemented. This community is still addicted no matter what they say. They don't care if the maps look like a bad Geometry problem, if they have to use spoils, or if the roll intensity cubes. Conquer Club is still as popular as always. The community knows we'll bounce back from this and things will be okay.

Probably nothing, but it seemed worth a separate discussion to me, which should not be a part of this thread... But dont misunderestimate what a petition can do: http://www.number10.gov.uk/Page16590

What will a petition do? It's not worth it, this site will be just fine. I've been having more fun in the past day using the words 'spoils' and 'intensity cubes' than I have playing the game. Okay wait. Hmm that's sad.
