Re: Pandi (text-based) [Round 9 - Dito's turn]

Post by Ditocoaf »

Hmm... I'm trying to decide if that hurt him or me more... because there are a few spaces only he can reach (out of the frontrunners), and Iron was one of the spaces that we both could reach.

Thanks for the help, though!

I get to pick whether Dito wins and I come in last, or you guys tie and I come in last.

Going with the second. :P

Hooray! GG. A usergroup must be made. I'm sure we could form one already, because not only with the 5 who've played, but others who want to play, will join.

Ouch... lost by a misplaced piece... you know if you give me the win, it's really just a technicality... I won't have outplayed you, I just lucked out. I'm fairly sure a tie is still the correct call in this situation.

Good game everybody, but I have a two comments to make.

One, I think that pieces should start out further away from each other so that there is less strategic advantage in the order of turns.

Two, should alliances/betrayals (basically a diplomacy aspect) be encouraged in this game? I guess that one's more of a question.

Well, last game ink went 3rd and won... this game, I went 1st and he went 4th, and we tied. I'm not sure how much effect turn order has, in the end. You can't take someone's piece in your first turn, and after that, everyone's had a chance to set their game however they want to. Just my opinion, though.

hmm... probably just as much as in any other game. I mean, diplomacy isn't a inherent part of Parcheesi, but it happens. Some people will feel it's cheap, and others will feel its just smart. So, to sum up: idunno.

I also think the turn order doesn't matter. That was one of the things I was worried about when I was playing by myself, as the person who went first seemed to do best every time. But the first player probably only has a minor advantage at best, like the White player in chess. Overall, I've been very pleased with how that's all turned out.

I think it should basically be like CC. Obviously, secret alliances should be against the rules, and should be announced in the game. But I don't think they'll ever really be necessary. It should be pretty obvious when it's against your interest to take Player B's piece when Player A has an overwhelming advantage.

This suggestion actually gives me a couple good ideas for variations on Pandi actually, but I think I'll save one of those suggestions for next game, and the other for when we create the usergroup.

Heh. As soon as you said "variations on pandi," three or four (bad) ideas popped into my mind, and I couldn't stop for a minute or two. Be careful when mentioning things, you could kill someone.

awesome. I'm not quite ready for another game, but anyone who is should start a new thread and ask for signups... I have a feeling it'll fill up quickly.
