Noobs on Circus Maximus

Post by Tupence »

After seeing the following post by wcaclimbing in another thread, ( http://www.conquerclub.com/player.php?m ... OBBER&so=D ) I started wondering what it is about the Circus Maximus map. It was the first game I played when I joined the site, and I know that's the case for a couple of other people too. Anyone have ideas what attracts newbies to it so much? Don't want to have to avoid it in future in order to avoid being accused of farming, as it's a good and individual map
Important Tournament Notice

The data for ALL of my tournaments has potentially been lost. I am working to recover it but as I am away on business all of this week, there will be some delay. Sincere apologies.

First thing that generally popped up when I selected "join a game" when I was first on. I almost joined the game countless times when I was new due to the fact I was interested on why so many others joined. However looking atthe map it simply looked boring.

He foes everyone (well, not me yet since I am new), and thus only the new people can join his games, which are usually new recruits.

Well it is a rather unique map. Something about it's simplistic brutality appeals to me personally.

No Continents! No Bonus! No Mercy!

They could have added, "and No Going Back!"

Now a lot of folks don't care much for it because it's really unlike the classic style of game play. But there are numerous other theme and objective maps that play nothing like the old classic style. However most of those maps appear on first glance to be rather complex to master. Heck a lot don't just appear that way but are a bit complex to master. When you look at the Circus Maximus map though it gives the appearance of simplicity.

To me though it really is a fun and challenging map. Simplistic Brutality.

I joined about 4 of his games and he quit most of them. I don't know if I am on his ignore list now or not.

He probably is ignoring you now.

The trick is to be the last player to join, so he has to play against you.

the reason is because klobbers games have been waiting for players the longest and so show up in join game tab which is what noobs click because there not trying to find a game they are trying to join one

I have played with Klobber before in Circus Maximus. He is a good player , cordial and friendly.

I don't know why noobs played circus maximus though. But if I want to play that map, Klobber's games are there. When I was a noob, I played that map before (not sure it is Klobber's or not) and brutally killed. :o

Without territory bonus and need great patient with strategy (esp if foggy games), I would say it is mostly for intermediate players.

If the game type is escalating, you just need to be patient, you will probably become the last one standing and will come out as the winner. ( which is why I don't really like escalating games)
