could be usefull if you use gimp

http://hawksmont.com/blog/gimp-brushes-doodles-part-2/

or this if you use photoshop

http://sideduck.blogspot.com/2007/09/doodle-brush-pack-1.html

finally your territories name seems different with other things on map

if you see here you find how the writed parts could be done...

you have a lot of work to do here, change your direction or probably you have to put yours package in recycle bin... :?

dude i think you really neeed to quit try to do this with actual crayons then scanning... You should take your time and get a legit good looking first draft... dont try to speed through it... these need to look good if they are going to go anywhere... plus you took none of our ideas for your space version... you kept it the same pretty much..

I lowered territ count, fixed spelling, added planets and simplified game play

Those were the ideas if I recall. Any more?

Any ideas on how to acheive that stellar look?

you should differently make this look more like doodle earth, meaning not such bold outlines, just use differant colors, and make it look more like crayons. This could go through the foundry pretty quickly, but you cant just do it in 10 seconds, which it looks like you did.

MAKE IT LOOK MORE LIKE THE REAL SHAPE OF THE CONTINENTS, MAINLY EUROPE

p.s. i wouldn't put that u r 13 on the map, make it like 5 or 6

Please no!!! Doodle is unique.........spin-offs are just copies and don't improve the map selection. They just add maps to the site to be adding maps, not improving the map quality.

your trying too hard, they all seem way too advance for a child, and stop thinking so hard, everything looks messed up with the names which means they don't look that great

I think there is a really good idea in here somewhere, but I'm not sure it has been found yet. :-s

For starters, lose the "doodle." Doodle was somebody else's idea, and it has been done. If you want to make a map - and I would suggest you focus on one, not three - that intentionally looks like a kid made it, I encourage you to do so. But do it with your own point of view, don't just rip off one EvilDimwit's. Part of what makes that map fantastic is that it is original, but turning it into a series sucks the joy out of the original.

I'd suggest you decide what map you want to make - space, europe, etc - and put your effort into just that one map. Then find a kid's point of view that would be appropriate to that map. For instance, why would a 13 year old draw a map of the solar system? Maybe if he was doing a report for his science class. How would he then draw it? Wouldn't he take more time coloring the planets and rings? Would it be on a scrap of binder paper? What would he write on it?

Yours is scribble, not doodle.
The trick is to make the graphics look great, while still fitting in with the 'doodle earth' look.

Compare your maps to this one:
Image

Just cause your map is supposed to be a 'doodle' doesn't mean it gets to look like crap. What you've got is 'scribbles' and you'll have to up the graphics a lot to get to 'doodle'.

Here are the google image search results for 'doodle'.
All of the results are high quality pics.http://images.google.com/images?q=doodle
Now notice the difference in a google image search for 'scribble' http://images.google.com/images?q=scribble

See the difference? doodles have good graphics, scribbles look like any 5-year-old could have made it with its eyes closed.

Doodle Earth has high quality graphics. It just so happens that it was done with a crayon effect. Just cause it looks like crayon, doesn't mean other doodle maps get to look bad.

Pick one (if any of them...), focus on it, make it looks nice. Don't do Doodle, it wasn't your idea, it wasn't your map. If you want to do some kind of kid theme, why not try something new and different? Like a colouring book or something?
