[Abandoned] - Amsterdam

Post by Maggi »

Hi there,

I am relatively new around her, and really enjoy the map-making section.

I tried something (my own home town) myself, and i know it is not good enough.
Maybe you people can give some advice, i would appreciate it!

oh, by teh way, one thing to improve is a legend...
anyway: the blue lines are rivers, the yellow-and-red lines are highways, which both are only possible to pass when indicated so.

Hi good map for a first try.

Remove the background (keep the pic and add it again at a later date) so it is easier to judge the playability.

Add a box of some sort behind legend to make it stand out.

Some of the territories are very small especially in Centrum.

Add texture to rivers to make them look more realistic.

true;

I chose not to use "Landelijk Noord", which is an empty area with small little villages. Instead I added Duivendrecht and Diemen, which is indead not a part of the community of Amsterdam. At the other hand, it belongs to the urban area of the city. The same can be said about Amstelveen and Zaandam (and Badhoevedorp)

My Choice was: just within the city boundaries or an urban area. I've chosen the last option...

well, the idea is that it has a function like rivers or hills in other maps. Hills are not available in Amsterdam, and the highway ís in fact a boundary which you can pass on limited locations in real life.

Maybe i should find an other way to display the highways...

Very nice first effort it looks promising. Get rid of the background for now and the highways do need at least a colour change. I would also either get rid of or minimise the lakes and canals within territories as it looks a bit confusing.

this map needs a translucent white puff of smoke surrounding it.
