i got to work a few hours on the map

before i move anyfuther
i have a few things to ask
1. Colour Palette
if you could make a palette you would like the colours to be unfortunately i am very colour blind
and just stating the names of the colors does not work because you might get something else
or do you want me to just fly with some colours for now
2. territ issues
as i have this drawn its follows the potitcal map 95% Asturias, Cantabria, Navarra
and Rioja from what i found do not have inner counties. From what i remember from my travels
Pais Vasco has three counties and extremadura has 3-4 not just 2 but i may be wrong.
do you want the small north provinces to be part of one bonus if you can't find more info on it
3. Fonts
What would you like me to use

just so everyone can see i sent this to merker
yes its not complete but i had some question as you can see and i'm pretty sure merker wouldn't mind other ideas or suggestions based on the questions i posed

i suggested the same thing... but was told this is spain not portugal and spain.. Which clearly makes for a more exciting map...

Please don't ever post on this thread again.

There's a map for;

Iberia
Portugal

Why should Spain be left out? If you like chucking a sad on this thread I'm guessing you chucked a sad the Portugal map.

well, the portugal map is an inherently different game. portugal presents us with a much smaller area of land, and is broken up according to portugese regional lines(i'm assuming this).

from what i and the person whom you've quoted have noticed is that although spain does deserve its own map, the gameplay you are presenting is basically the same.

from what i've seen of your map, the "continent" regions look almost exactly the same as those in iberia. the only difference i see is the lack of portugal, but really its the same map.

all i'll say for the rest of this map's development, but it would be a shame if the people here let this get to the main foundry...

yes actually is very similar..but you can work on gameplay and graphic to do a new type of map.

General Rules
1. A map should be ‘inherently unique either in gameplay, location, or theme’.

yes the areas are close to iberia i totally agree i used all my road maps from my travels so the territs are the political territs

as for gameplay the idea i gave to merker was that east ports can attack the balears illes and balears illes can attck canary illes which can attack a coruna opening up different strategics options

Here's the existing Iberia map(which contains Portugal as well as Spain):
[bigimg]http://www.conquerclub.com/maps/Iberia.S.jpg[/bigimg]

And here's the current draft of Spain:
[bigimg]http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f94/gkn1/spaincopy.png[/bigimg]

There are obviously going to be some geographic similarities between the two, as Spain is the larger of the Iberian countries.
General Rules
1. A map should be ‘inherently unique either in gameplay, location, or theme’.

Adding the Spanish islands is a good start, as it will offer something subtley different. Most importantly though, will be to devleop some sort of theme... you say that you have enjoyed travelling around Spain - why not try to do some sort of "Spain visitor guide", or "Backpacking routes", or "tourist destinations", or pick up another theme that you could use to bring the map to life... These are just suggestions that might help to form your plans for future development ;-)

I dig this Idea

I would style it like this, not border out areas but have them connect with lines

well since i have journals and road maps alike for the time i backpacked thru out spain i could incorperate this at ease and actually what has been going on in the back of my mind for months but it is merker idea so depends on what he wants
but yes this is what i want to gear towards

not a big fan of routes since it limits colours quite a bit (being colour blind and all)
but i could maybe have some routes

i can incorporate bullfight arenas as a "hold five to get" bonus system

and as a favor sailorseal could you please not post a bunch of different maps(that do not focus on spain)to explain things or at least spoiler them
i would appreciate this alot

We are making a unique game play, back-forward pms are easing us through the ports-canary islands idea, we're selecting bonus cities like;

Madrid (duh)
Valencia
Salamanca
Barcelona
Santiago

Seville
Corboda
Granada

I was also thinking, include Spanish West Africa to spice it up a bit as the Canary islands are real close to Spanish West Africa.

While this map isn't yet a complete working draft, I think you're heading in a positive direction. I'm looking forward to seeing this develop ;-)

I've come up with 10 colours, hopefully enough. ;)

Also, I thought maybe add the motto in;

"Plus Ultra"
-
"Further Beyond"

EDIT: Sorry for double post!

Obviously on the map could be different, but actually i think that the two last colors don't fit very well with the others.

Try to tone down them only a bit (only the last two)

I can't wait to see your draft! :D

Mmmm....I made them darker. I'm not prepared to change them just yet, I'd like to see how they work in the map.
