New guidelines from the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force say that women age 40 to 49 don't need to have routine mammograms anymore and that breast self-exams aren't recommended in general. The group found no evidence that self-exams reduce breast cancer death rates, and it discourages teaching women how to examine themselves.
Immediately all the cancer organizations came out, ridiculed the Task Force, and said "ignore them, they are idiots, you need to check yourself".
This is the beginning of the end. When the US Preventive Services Task Force starts deciding what is and isn't necessary, and then the Obamacare plan being built upon it, soon people will find they are screwed. If your health insurance refuses to cover your breast cancer stuff, because the USPSTF says it's not needed, then you just got killed by the government. Obamacare hasn't even passed yet, and already we are starting to see the signs.
