YES, its possible to just deal with the system as it is but it's a pain.

Good point, it would be handy, but I wouldn't necessarily put it at the top of the to-do list.

Georgerx7di wrote:Asking this question is analogous to asking, "why do you need to post in a forum, why can't you just pm everyone". A clan forum is where the clan members go, they read the threads in there, and they are the only ones in there. It's like saying why does a reporter to go to a country instead of calling on the phone. You get a better feel when you are there. Going into a forum, maybe making a thread with a few questions, could teach me more than sending 10 pms.

That's a pretty spurious analogy, George. This isn't a reporter going to a foreign country, this is a reporter asking for a foreign country's classified files. I can't speak for other clans, but there's quite a bit in the THOTA forum that is, for lack of a better way of putting it, proprietary information and thus not available for consumption by anyone who hasn't been voted into the clan. There's nothing news-worthy in there that you couldn't get by asking me or blitz or BW or any other horseman.

Not really incan, not if I wanted feedback from 20 different people. Being in a forum is the best way to communicate with a clan, without communicating with the rest of cc. Anyway, I didn't think that everyone would go for it, but there might be a new clan who only has 5 or 10 threads total, and nothing personal in their forum, who would let me in.

Tbh this is more what I had in mind, a clan that is just starting up. I could see how they organize teams and what kind of difficulties they have because of lack of experience. Let's also not forget that most clans have had members come and go, and those people did not blow the place up when they left.

Truth is I've gotten my answer here, so now if there are clans who are willing, I can just ask for a "visitors pass" : ) Don't worry though, I won't bother asking thota. :D

It's too bad, cuz I think it would be fun to have george come to our forum. We would have to have the ability to clean some stuff up though..

An hour ago whilst a couple of our members were in our clan forum a 'guest' appeared. A bit disconcerting at first, we then assumed it may be a member who hides his online status. So we tried it out, but that didn't change to 'Guest', it simply reduced the number of registered users browsing our clan forum. So how can that be?

It's possible that one of your clan members was logged in and browsing the forums, then went AFK and timed out, but hadn't at that stage navigated to another page, which triggers the timed out login page again. That's my best guess based on what I know of phpBB3.
