Public Library Access in Virginia
We have a vacation place on the Chesapeake Bay. We don't have a landline phone up there, and hi-speed Internet is a dream we hope comes true there one day. But, I said that to say this, the local library put in a Wi-Fi Free Hotspot there. They put up signs advertising it and everything. I often, when we are up there, was stopping in the evening and checking my email. Sometimes, the library would be open, sometimes not. I got to wondering about the police pulling up behind me. So, I went in and asked the Head Librarian about the situation. He said, as long as you have a library card there, you could use the WiFi whether they were physically open or not. We have a library card there, because we used to go inside to use their computers before they got the wireless access. I would be interested to know, if he has a library card for that branch. Might make all the difference in the world.
Just my 2 cents.

it could be jamie and i would still support him this is crasy. i mean it is like a crime for drink from a water fountain that is in a neiborhod park (the small dinky ones) and the park, which isnt gated or fenced, closed three minutes ago
were the "police" out of donuts or something.... maybe they thought he had some donut holes on him and when they found he did not they were covering their tracks
above assumes that story is real

Exactly. Were this someones personal wireless connection that they intended to remain private, I could see the case for stealing bandwidth. But this is a PUBLIC library with advertised FREE and PUBLIC internet access intended for anyone who would like to use it.
So...If you are sitting in front of a closed store in the evening, reading a book by the display window...are you then "Stealing Light"?

the worst part is that while our (riskspake) brother is being shakled (possibly i think thread unclear on this) more hanous crimes are being commited. i would bet that there's at least one windowsil whose pie has disappeared. *Looks meaningfully around at the threaders(like chatters but for threads)*

I did it all for the free advertising. I got ConquerClub in the papers, and a bunch of new members hopefully that upgraded to premium.
Lets all protest by latching onto wireless outside of our libraries late at night.

Me and a few friends used to go to a snooker hall most weekends, two of us preferring to sit and drink while watching the other play (mainly to save money, and also cos our games became a joke after a few drinks)
The owner once kicked us out for sitting there and not playing, claiming we were stealing his heat. He wasn't too impressed when I pointed out we were actually raising the temperature of the room
