Sadly it would appear that development of this map has stalled. If/when the mapmaker wants to continue with the map, then one of the Foundry Moderators will be able to help put the thread back into the Foundry system, after an update has been made. ;-)

Well I'm back again-sorry to drop off the map like that but stuff rather got on top of me and I pretty much dropped everything for the last half-year. (in the mean time of this my computer died so I've had to redownload all my font files and Gimp-Its very lucky that I'd backed up the map file.)
But now exams are behind me (until next jan anyway) and for a while I'm in a vacuum between AS and A level so I should get enough time to myself to update reasonably often (no promises!) Lets hope I can see this one through this time. :D

Medieval Denmark V2.7
[bigimg]http://img824.imageshack.us/img824/8383/medievaldenmarkv27.jpg[/bigimg]

Changes
-Lost the runes.
-Darkened the sea and tweaked the land colour.
-a few other things but I've forgotten.

I'm thinking of adding some sort of border to the lower legend, I'll play around with that for the next update.

I started with the small on Japan. :| :P

But it does look like you're at the point of us seeing the large too and lets check the color blindness filters. I hate to say it, but the border by the yellow region has a bit of jaggedness/pixelish issue.

Thanks guys, really nice to see interest so quickly. :)

I prefer to start with the small map to avoid the hassle of shrinking it only to find half your territories are too small to work.

I couldn't see the pixels at first but a closer look and... ouch.
I'll get on to that, it may end with having to swap the dark red and light blue colours if I cant find a colour which works and isn't to similar to the dark red.

Edit: I've also run colour blindness tests-the Dark blue and purple are a little similar but not beyond distinction I think. Earlier in the thread I switched the colours of south and mid jutland to help with colour blindness but nothing else has been raised since.

Right I've experimented with three different colours, do you think any of them work?
Black:

Brown:
[bigimg]http://img718.imageshack.us/img718/7488/medievaldenmarkv27brown.jpg[/bigimg]
Green:

Blue:
[bigimg]http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/4097/medievaldenmarkv26.jpg[/bigimg]

I've also experimented a little with the layer masks to see if a different approach will have any effect, what do you think?

I took me a while, but I finally figured out you changed the colors of Blekyng & Burgendaland, I think the bright orange works the best.

Thanks guys, the bonuses are listed twice so that people can see both the names of the continents and a quick glance view of what earns what. Its interesting to see what people think on colours, I'll make up my mind when we get a bit more feedback.

It does my heart good to know that you had backed up your map files and were thus able to resume work after your hardware problems. It saddens me when I see active mapmakers who have been posting steadily tell of redoing their maps from scratch because they lost the file. Keep up the good work.

I always make copies of my latest map files and put them on fileden in a private folder, every few weeks. Seems like a good practice. Although it seems I still end up redoing my maps from scratch, now and then... :?

Yea, what sucks is I lost all my font files so I had to spend ages trawling the internet and redownloading them all.

Just a heads up, especially for passing mods, as this is looking good, I'll be restarting my VIKING INVASION map.

Graphically I'd say this map kicks ass. You need a large map and I'd like to see something with the triple digits.

Thanks for bringing that one up there, when I made the map it was only a requirement to fit 2 digit numbers into the map. I've used g33 for most of the map as its the biggest to fit in but there are examples of all the others.
[bigimg]http://img257.imageshack.us/img257/6640/medievaldenmarkv28g33.jpg[/bigimg]
One or two I've had to cram in somewhat I'm afraid.

Looks like you got some problems with Fyun and Islands, Laeso and maybe Thytae.

I'd say enlarge Fyun and Islands and get some of those labels on the land, at least a letter so its clear which they point to.

As for Laeso, put the word on top of the island and the numbers above that.

Excellent Balsiefen! This looks lovely, crisp and clean. I have however one little niggle. You see the parchment-like backdrop you have for the legends area, it doesn't fit the rest of your maps theme. Your map is using mostly solid colours and crisp lines. The legends backdrop however is blurred round the edges and has a subtle texture. I think this needs to change to bring the legends up to par with the rest of the map.

Apart from that I think your map is superb!

p.s. the orange/yellow colour was also my favourite choice. :geek:

And the oranges have it!

At the moment I'm about half way through altering the islands (it's a big job, virtually every layer needs to be changed in some manner) and I have one last exam to do so I'm going to have a couple of days off-keep commenting if you see anything, I'll be checking into the thread.

I'll have a go at something different for the legend as well.
