OFFICIAL GOLF THREAD =O
I haven't seen a golfing thread yet on CC since I've been here...but I'm sure there are some golf-lovers!
Personally, I'm still a Tiger fan. I really want to see him take Nicklaus's record, but it's starting to look shitty. If Phil (lol. watch him walk, my bro-ha does a great impression) takes the first overall, then that's really gonna suck for Tiger...though he could have an epic comeback and reclaim number 1 next year by winning all four majors.
Or am I talking to myself?

Re: US Open (Golf)
how old is tiger? I think Nicklaus won a lot of his in his late 30's and early 40's
I will tell you this. I watched an interview of Nicklaus like 5 years ago and he was asked on how he felt to probably lose his record to tiger. He replyed something veryclose to this "Are you kidding me? Wait till the fans, the family, the kids, and the riches catch up to him. My record is still pretty secure if you ask me"
Pretty clairvoyant quote huh?

Re: US Open (Golf)
If I remember...he's 33. And he might lose his driving as he gets older, but he'll sure as Hell get better at accuracy and putting.
And I remember Nicklaus was always a dick about this. Kinda disappointing (reminds me of Hank Aaron when Bonds broke his record. Inb4 steroids).

reminds me of MJ ... the ultimate dick. Mj's NBA hall of fame acceptance speech was a parody of a dick.
Edit: Im a huge barry bonds fan.. some of us people in this world just dont have time for everyone and dont really care about impressing ppl. So I completely get his bad rap...
Bonds did steroids... he broke a great record against steroid record holders (mcguire) and against steroid pitchers... I like him. And I followed the record closely.. Aaron wasnt really a dick. I think he was in an awkward spot. Throughout his life he has been a media star with TONS of media friends paid in cushy media jobs after retirement. I think there was a little pressure on him to speak out.. which he did little.

Re: US Open (Golf)
I'd like to respond real quick to the Jordan thing before talking about golf...
Jordan was not a dick and if you actually listened to his speech he just talked about winning. He was a winner and did anything he could to win. All he said was that he would win as a team, but if that wasn't looking to well he would do all he could personally to win by taking control of the game. You can't call him a dick for that... he is simply a really good player. Great shooter (I mean look at his field goal % in the playoffs compared with anyone...even kobe doesn't compare), great passer, great general knowledge of the game.
Bottom line...if people didn't want to win as much as Jordan did...you would just have avg Joes playing for you in the NBA and that's no fun to watch (I think the NBA in general has lost its touch, but that's besides the point)
So yeah Golf....
I agree with a couple of you guys, I still like Tiger. When viewing players you have to look at them as just that...players not how they are as people - no matter what goes on in his personal life I still think Tiger is the Jordan of Golf. 2 reasons, after watching most of the open and hearing about all the records that he broke in 2000 at Pebble Beach...just outstanding. Secondly, regardless if he wins Sunday or not, WHAT A COMEBACK!!!! He was in like 80th place or something after the 1st round...24th or something like that after the 2nd and at the end of the third hes in like 3rd place....that is just rediculous to do.....especially at Pebble Beach
Go Tiger I hope you Win! ...I hate all this talk about your personal life

Re: US Open (Golf)
Sometimes I don't understand professional golfers. They play eighteen holes, the same ones, several days in a row. Yes you can have a good hole and a bad hole, but a professional golfer should at least be somewhat consistent.
Mickelson's score for the first three days: +4 -5 +2
Woods score for the first three days: +3 +1 -5
I can see Tiger's score, he was golfing crap and realized he had to really perform. But Jack got into 2nd place on Friday and just blew it. So now, going into Sunday he is in 6th place, Tiger is in 3rd.
Some "B" list idiot named Dustin Johnson is in first place, by scoring E -1 -5.
All I can say is ...
Go Johnson!

If you don't know about Mickelson's inconsistency, then you don't know anything about his history. He is one of the biggest choke-artists in professional sports.

An 82? Good job Johnson!
I am very impressed with Tiger's overall performance though. He steps the Hell up for Majors and is going to retain number 1 for that.
I would've laughed so hard if McDowell missed that last putt though.

Good sports are BORING ... well at least for the most part. Sports that aren't boring (like hockey) require a significant number of players sitting on the bench at any one time. Since you normally dont' consider all those men on the bench doing nothing but swishing gatorade in their mouths you don't realize that even these games are, on the whole, BORING.

Re: US Open (Golf)
Golf is NOT boring.
You just have to have a taste for it. I remember about 6 or so years ago, I used to hate golf. Then, my bro-has took me to a shitty par 3 course, and I started getting hooked. I don't know how many times I've been golfing since then, but I can tell you it's been enough to make golf fun as Hell. Even just watching it.
