Tournament Theme Song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IR46InU5 ... re=related
This tournament was formerly known as the 50 Modern Maps Tournament. FREEMIUMS, be sure to keep one slot open!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Basic Stuff You Need to Know--Please Read! Details for all of the information below can be found in the next section, the Official Rules.
So, the 2010 FIFA Football World Cup has recently finished and I´ve decided that I want to start a similar tournament with Risk, with a qualification process from all the continents to determine a world winner of risk. The tournament will feature two game types; 1v1 and 3-6 player singles. To play, choose one of the 30 divisions found below in the 5 leagues below (you´ll have to scroll down a bit where it says Details for Each League, in the spoilers), or look at the logo above to see the divisions (they are marked in blue), and then post which division you want to join. Note that many divisions are already full (check the large orange text above to see which are open). The names of the divisions match with the name of the map used; for example, the Middle East division will use the Middle East map in its divisional games.
Having chosen a division, you will now face each of the other 3 members of the division once in a 1v1 game (this process is known as round-robin). Players will be ranked by wins and then Round Differential. If you advance from your division you will face opponents on larger maps from the same region, qualifying from other maps in other locations of the continent. For example, if you advance from the Jamaica division, you will face opponents on the South America map, qualifying from the Brazil, Haiti, and Central America divisions.
Eventually, with great skill and a bit of luck, you just might reach the Global Finale, facing opponents qualifying from the entire globe.
Players will have 48 hours to join their games. If a player does not join their game in time, is banned from the tournament or removed for any other reason, they shall be replaced by a reserve.
These are the basic essentials of the tournament; read on if you truly want to understand more about the tournament.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Below are the Official Rules; read to furthermore understand:
• The settings used for the tournament.
• How many players advance from each division.
• How players are ranked in divisions.
• The tiebreaking system
• In what order you face opponents in your division.
• Which maps you will play on if you advance from your division.
• How you can become the host´s best friend and help make the tournament start quicker and have your name bolded and underlined (see bottom of post).

And much more!

Official Tournament Rules--Strongly Advised You Read On!
Note: As tournament organizer, I feel that my primary objective is to make the tournament a fair and enjoyable experience. This may require decisions or rules changes that may upset some, but benefit the majority of players and the tournament as a whole. I will be reasonable and listen to any players´ opinions, but when tough decisions have to be made, they have to be made.

ALL Games will have these settings:
Standard Game Type
Automatic Initial Troops
Sequential Play Order
Escalating Spoils
Chained Reinforcements
No fog of war
Casual Round Length

Divisional Play
All players will begin with 1v1 divisional play on the map corresponding to the name of the division:
There are 30 divisions in the tournament, found within each of the leagues. All have 4 players. Every player will face every other opponent once in their division in a 1v1 game (this process is known as round-robin). Thus, each player is guaranteed 3 games.

The order of how players are listed in their division (before play begins) will be random (#1 through #4), and players will face off in this fashion:
Round 1: #1 player vs. #4 player
#2 player vs. #3 player
Round 2: #1 player vs. #3 player
#2 player vs. #4 player
Round 3: #1 player vs. #2 player
#3 player vs. #4 player

Players are ranked by wins; the player with the most wins is at the "top" of the division; the player with the fewest wins is at the bottom of the division. If players have the same number of wins, they are ranked by Round Differential:
Tiebreaking System--Round Differential (RD)
In order to resolve ties after round-robin play, I have developed a system of scoring known as the Round Differential:
If a player wins their game:
The round number in which the game ended is subtracted from 15. This total is then added to the player´s Round Differential Total.
As a result, players earn more points for finishing games as quickly as possible.
If a player loses their game:
The round number in which the game ended is subtracted from 15. This total is then subtracted from the player´s Round Differential Total.
As a result, players do not lose as many points if they are able to lose after many rounds.

If a game extends into or past the 15th round, both the winner and the loser will not receive any points added to the RD Total.

The player with the higher Round Differential Total is ranked higher. If two players have the same Round Differential Total, then a playoff game will be created between the players with the identical ranking, on the divisional map with the usual settings.
If you are in the North American or European League, the top 2 players from each division will advance. If you are in any other league, only the top player will advance. Note that this is fair because there are less players in these leagues.

Divisions and leagues will play independently of each other, so one division or league may be finished before another.
The name of the division, conference, game, or final corresponds with the name of the map used, unless otherwise stated.
"Series of 3 games":A series of 3 games is defined as a 1v1 matchup between two players, where both players play at least 2 games against each other. If one player wins both of the games, then that player wins the series. If each player has won one game, then a third game is played, the winner of that game wins the series.
