Re: Ethiopia map
Not bad! You need to be clear as to which colors are which continents (for all those who don't know their geography
) Also, remove the Djibuti label from the red area on the map, it makes it look like a territory. The South Ogaden thing is neat. What's the reason behind this? Also, I think Ethiopia and Somalia may need to be broken up into smaller continents (at the very least Ethiopia. Maybe at the mountain line?). I'm wondering if Eritrea is worth too much. Maybe make it a +1 instead?

Re: Ethiopia map
south ogaden is being disputed between both countries. Oficialy belongs to ethiopia.
For impassables, those are the maximum I could use, the rest of those territories is desertific. I thought about adding a -1 for who holds a desert place, or anything like that

Re: Ethiopia map
I'm afraid you might be a bit confused. The impassables are fine, I was saying that you could use the line of mountains that you already have as a divider between two Ethiopian bonus areas.

To me it looks like there are too few bonuses and that Ethiopia and Somalia have far too many territories.

Re: Ethiopia map
Your South Ogaden gimmick isn't going to be very productive, because if a player holds Somalia, they are almost always going to also hold South Ogaden. With South Ogaden, Somalia is 4 territories to defend; without, it's 7. The benefit already far outweighs a 1-troop bonus.

Thank you, TBK, that was what I was trying to say the whole time.

Re: Ethiopia map
An Ethiopia map could be some much more than this... I must agree with the fact that another 'country-map' needs to have something extra, gameplay-wise or just as a theme. The reason why I like the map Celtic Nations, you see: actual geography with an extra theme.
But Ethiopia is covered with great themes and facts. For example, did you know that ethiopia has it owns alphabet and the oldest language (Ge'ez). It still uses the Julian Calender (so, on behalf of this, I wish you a nice New Year, Enkutatash on the 11th of september). Ethiopia had the oldest traceable monarchy, according to the legend descending from the root of Judah, in the form of the sun of Queen of Sheba and the biblical Solomon. Ethiopia has its own bible and is based on some holy fundations from the ancient kingdom of Axum. It has been an christian 'island' in africa for long time and now have even its own jews (Falashas, who believe ethiopia is the Holy Land). Ethiopa claims to have the Ark of the Covenant.
Most important: it has never been, as the only country in Africa, a colony. It's monarchy has never been conquered ( the emperor went in banishment in England during Italian invasion. ) Pretty strange country eh?
If you're looking for a battle, look for the battle of Adowa, the Italo-Abyssinian War or the Ethiopian annexation of Eritrea or just the victory of the united forces of Ethiopian rebels, Mau Mau warriors, British and swedish (?) forces over the Italian invaders in WW2.
for this, check out this short speech: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fiDDOs60ew
Another idea: Ethiopia had a for a very long time a feudal system where dukes (called Ras) reigned their own territories. The unification of Ethiopia by ending this system caused of course major troubles.
For detailed recent istory, this is a fine page: http://www.historyworld.net/wrldhis/Pla ... raphID=pdv
Just some thoughts,
hope to see some depth now
wish you good luck with it
