Why not? There are two South African maps in development.

There is a Benelux and a Netherlands map in the making as well. An Iberia (Benelux) and Spain (Netherlands) map are similar in concept.

I think you should pursue this project and then we'll see which one is the best or maybe we could include both of them. Try to give it a different twist from the Iberia map by using special bonuses or stuff like that.

Yes, but look at how ridiculously similar this map is to the Iberia map. The regions are damn near identical, and would be even more so if he got rid of those horrible 1 territory regions.

There are tons of countries that don't have maps. Unless you feel some huge attachment to Spain that you feel the Iberia map absolutely does not satisfy, I say find another country.

They look the same because Bad Speler probably traced a map of Spain like I did. It would be hard to draw a map of Spain (Or any other country) from nothing. Because they look so similar, I'm not going to do anything else with this map and let Bad Speler continue with Iberia.

What you could do with this seeing that it is a map of Spain is include the Balearic Islands which Bad Speller does not have on his map.

If you want you could also add insets or something and include the Canary Islands or the enclaves of Melilla and there's another one I forget the name right now.

Make your map unique in style, gameplay, historical reference etc.

Do a map based on a time in Spain's history?

I added the Balearic Islands, but I don't know where to put the Canary Islands. They are kinda far away from Spain, so should I just move them closer?

Hey this could be an idea. And I am going to suggest an era as well. The famous reconquista when Spain conquered back the territory it had lost to the Moors.

Either move them closer or use an inset. I am assuming you have still got to post an image of your updates?

Was the reconquista in 1270? If it was, then I found a map to use. I'll post a picture of the updated map after I get started on the reconquista version. From the look of the map I found, I think its a good idea

Post the image of the map and let us see what you will be working on.

From Wikipedia:
The Reconquista is commonly considered to have begun almost immediately in 722, with the Battle of Covadonga, and completed in 1492, with the Conquest of Granada.

In 1236 the last Muslim stronghold of Granada under Mohammed ibn Alhamar was subjugated by Ferdinand III of Castile, and Granada became a vassal state of the Christian kingdom for the next 250 years. On January 2, 1492, the last Muslim ruler, Abu 'abd Allah Muhammad XII (also known as Boabdil of Granada), surrendered to Ferdinand and Isabella, Los Reyes Católicos ("The Catholic Monarchs"). This resulted in the creation of united Roman Catholic nation encompassing most of modern day Spain.

Make sure you include southern France (and west North Africa).

Reconquista would not have been possible without Charles Martel. His victory over Umayyad forces at the Battle of Tours saved Europe from Islamic rule (and gave Europe somewhere to mount a reconquista from).

Check out maps of the "Umayyad caliphate". You should also include western portion of North Africa on the map.

These additions would add originality to Spain map and be historically accurate.

Will be a fun map.

Thanks, that's a good idea. How much of France and Africa should I include though?
