@austin

he did make it clear to leave a slot open. truthfully, i never worried about that. just joined games to compete.

you are right, nobody IS forcing me to take part in this. but i will point out that i received an unsolicited message to join this tourney so i did. (the first unsolicited message i've received since playing at this site) so, its not like i begged anyone to let me so don't make it sound like i owe someone favors for this tournament.

if seriously? criticisms are not welcome, then being an organizer is probably not the best position to put oneself in.

that was mild criticism really. i didn't say anything about the hundreds of messages i got as a result of joining this tournament (cause i know it was a unintended result) or about the constantly changing time table. (cause i assume the breadth of this tournament probably leads to some unexpected shifts in scheduling) in fact, i sent him a message at the beginning of this that told him i appreciated the invite and the work he put into organizing this. (perhaps he saved it and can confirm this)

believe me when i say that the criticism was for serious thought and not to hurt anyone's feelings. maybe go eat some chocolate and curl up to a nice romance flick from netflix. that should make you feel all better.

I do respect everyone's opinion. I would probably do things different in future tourneys--but every new venture is learned from. So far I am extremely happy with the tourney and I am fine with any adjustment I have done for an ever evolving tourney such as this one. I wanted 750 people --1000 was an outside hope. 2500 was not thought of. Many players have been given the benefit of the doubt due to many different reasons. I am hopeful everyone will have fun, but I am realistic as well. Just like everyone else who runs tourneys, we do this because we enjoy it, we don't get paid, we spend a lot of our free time, even spend some of our money to hopefully bring some entertainment and joy to others (which we get satisfaction from). I have really held myself together and took the high road in most instances (which some would say that is not HA). Anyway all my decisions are based on the benefit of the tourney and the players and I feel like any changes and decisions I have made are more beneficial than negative. I probably should have explained it this way. Still I hope all have fun and for anyone who does not, maybe next time you will.

I've run a tournament or two during my days here at CC, some simple, others more complex. Ha's 2500 participants in this is way beyond anything anyone else has ever done and the time commitment he makes, just in game creation is enormous.

Its easy to complain about the way someone else does something without making any constructive suggestions. That's just lazy IMO. Complaining about messages (and it certainly wasn't hundreds of them) is just silly. I do understand complaining about adding time and bounties for those who are late and its probably not the way I'd do it but I also support Highlander in running his tournament his way. THis isn't one that I would want to run although I'm a glad participant. To my mind its been very well run to date.

I really commend you for that after that stupid Netflix comment. I probably wouldn't have responded so kindly.

There will be seven days available to join games this round. This means if you are freemium you better manage your account well. After seven days you will be locked out from joining anymore games. I will send a 24 hour notice.

Friday will be the last day to join games--unless you have given me a pm why you cannot join.

The reality is that round 2 will end sometime on Friday night which means no one is really getting any extra time anyway. Because of my schedule in real life I will be deleting games and making matchups from games that have single players between Friday night and Saturday morning at my convenience.

I think the final notice to join games in round 2 is warranted and acceptable and does not give any special treatment to those who have not joined or need to finish their three games in this round. Like I said before the entertainment team did not even get their games to send out until this morning due to my real life schedule and they are giving away the premiums that are earned through bounties.

ROUND 2 will be locked out in the next 24-36 hours though depending on when I have the time to delete the games available.

Highlander, I absolutely, positively hate how you're running this tournament. You're happy, merciful, and want others to have fun. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!

Go lie under a rock and get mold.

Okay but for serious: this is a blast. Never been in a tournament like this one, and I'm enjoying it (and learning a lot about how to run a tournament). I appreciate the banter and CC fellowship that's been created.

Thank you. May you live long and prosper, and for all my opponents out there: As Mr. Worf would say, "Today is a good day to die" (for you).

Dont kill me if its even older, but I think our good Mr. Worf stole that from an old indian (native american) saying.

I think "Hokahey" translates roughly into that, though I forget which tribal language it actually is.

No criticism intended here. Im much too afraid of Mr. Worf to be pedantic or semantic when he is around ;-) Its just an FYI.

Haha! Borrowing is flattery in some contexts; plagiarism in others. The "saying" is part of many warrior cultures and involves honor and shame in the face of one's duty in warfare. I didn't, then, take it pedantically. But I dare say, the Klingon's do it better than anyone else :)

Just as a comparison --I ran a tourney like this with 45 players. We are starting round 15 with 2 players left.

So, if a player wins the first game of the round all s/he would have to do is not join another game and would win the tourney? Or do the rules change to compulsory joining of 3 games at some point in the tourney? (Not that I expect to make it that far--just curious)

no --because everyone has the right to get three games--so if they won one game they would advance but would also get matched against someone that needed a game if necessary.
