Twitter Notifications

Post by Father_MacKenzie »

Concise description:
  • At present all notifications and newsletters are sent by e-mail, but I think most people check their twitter account more regularly than their e-mail. So it would be good if the site allowed you to receive these notifications by twitter.

Specifics/Details:
  • Another set of check boxes would appear in game settings so people could choose to receive the update by e-mail or by twitter, a CCbot could send out a message like "@Username It is your turn in game xxxxxxx <link>"

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • Such a service could help reduce the times players have to wait for another player to realise it is their turn and make their move.

What do other people think?

Twitter and Facebook integration is pretty high on Lackattack's list of updates he wants to do. As we improve some more behind the scenes performance, and have a few more updates geared down the game system, this might come up!

I don't think anyone reads the newsletter. Time coding is better spent on game-related projects.

I'm not so worried about the newsletter, but it'd certainly be useful for speed games etc, if you had a notification as soon as it was your turn rather than having to check your inbox it'd probably make the whole thing more fluid.
